At Woodleigh School, we believe that great education is more than just an excellent academic preparation for the future. A great education equips a student with life skills, resilience, and independence developed through an extensive Camps and Activities Program. It provides an understanding of service, building a strong moral and ethical base, and the desire to contribute to the broader community. It is the ability to laugh at oneself and with others, have fun as often as possible, and work hard and give your best effort to everything that you do.

There is a collegiate atmosphere here at Woodleigh, which underpins the supportive learning environment that is such a feature. The school opened its doors in 1856 as a small independent, co-educational-educational primary school known as St. Paul's School. It was one of the earliest schools in the Colony of Victoria, is the oldest independent co-educational-educational school in Victoria, and was the first on the Mornington Peninsula.

The primary school was initially housed in a small wooden hall on High Street's Anglican Church's grounds, Frankston. It played an essential part in the early days of the 19th Century Victorian Colony, focusing on the small, rapidly growing community.
