Wenona School

Welcome to Wenona, an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for girls from Kindergarten to Year 12, based in North Sydney. Since Wenona was established in 1886 under the motto Ut Prosim, that we may serve, the school has sought to support, educate and inspire students to become confident young women who will revel in the challenges ahead of them.
We passionately believe in girls' education's effectiveness to empower young women to develop their strengths and talents. Research shows that in single-sex environments, girls feel most free to pursue their interests to the best of their abilities, in and outside of the classroom. The School staff from across Woodstock Infants, the Junior School, Middle School, and Senior College, as well as the Boarding House, are life-long learners, equipped to bring out the best in our students, pastorally and academically. Our staff believes in each girl's value and is committed to their growth – from the youngest years through adolescence to their final examinations, valedictory, and life beyond school.
Wenona has a strong sense of community and aims to instill in students a sense of hope, purpose, and service. We aim to see young women graduating from Wenona as intelligent, gracious, compassionate, and capable adults. We recognize each girl as an individual, with her passions to discover and contribute to making as she steps out of the school gates.
Wenona also offers a healthy environment, with rich opportunities beyond the classroom. Through sports, debating, creative arts, leadership, and service, girls discover their creativity, teamwork, work/life balance, and other life lessons they will take with them after graduating. Our goal is that each girl will go from strength to strength, develop courage and resilience, and have a strong sense of self, so they can go on to shape their worlds into the future.
Every part of life at Wenona is built on a deep understanding of how girls think, work, and feel. The research shows that girls feel ablest to stretch themselves in single-sex education environments. In and outside the classroom, we provide guidance and encouragement for our students to become confident, resilient, graceful women.
