On behalf of our College community, I warmly welcome you here today. We embrace everyone in our College, and I am very proud of the multi-cultural community that makes St George such an excellent school for children from Playgroup to Year 12. As an educator with more than 30 years' experience in both Government and Independent schools, it is a privilege to work with our families, to design learning opportunities that focus on developing critical capabilities in our students, allowing them to "Dream Big" and to work hard to achieve their goals. A St. George College education will offer your child:

    • An education where each child is encouraged to be the best they can be.
    • Regular feedback to students and their parents, offering strategies for continuous improvement.
    • Quality teachers who undertake regular professional development
    • Inspirational, differentiated teaching, and learning experiences that inspire excellence.
    • Access to enrichment programs, early intervention initiatives, and learning support programs that firm foundations in literacy and numeracy, develop critical thinking skills, and foster a love for lifelong learning.
    • Modern Greek language classes.
    • Chinese Mandarin classes.
    • Co-curricular opportunities out of hours in sport and a range of other activities that develop student capabilities.
    • Regular assemblies where we celebrate the successes of our children and share numerous community events.

Established in 1983, St George College was the first Orthodox College in South Australia. In 1984, there were 31 students across Years 1 to 3 in attendance at the College – a small, humble beginning built on the Christian virtues modeled by Saint George. Our College was established to:

    • Provide excellence in education through high-quality teaching and learning programs
    • Provide an additional and credible educational choice for parents
    • Ensure the effective teaching and learning of the Orthodox Faith and that of the Modern Greek language

Our Emblem affirms the centrality and importance of the Orthodox Faith throughout daily life. It makes explicit our spiritual and administrative links to our parent community of St George Thebarton and Western Suburbs Inc.

The intersection of the olive branch and the sprig of wattle symbolizes the Australian and Greek cultures' meeting and interaction in the real sense of multiculturalism and a critical precondition to effective and constructive local and global citizenship. The shield of St George with the Holy Cross at its center affirms our faith and makes explicit our spiritual and administrative links to the greater community.

Today, over 500 students from Playgroup to Year 12 thrive in an environment that provides a high-quality education within state-of-the-art facilities. Our substantial growth is a testament to our commitment to our Christian origins, the wider community, and our dedication to children's holistic education.

Although the Christian faith based College, we are proud of our culturally and linguistically diverse student population and give all enrolment applications equal consideration (irrespective of nationality, religious background, and gender). Increasing our community's social, cultural, and linguistic diversity remains an important goal here at the College. It will continue to contribute to our proud story in years to come. Our strong international reputation has been developed by delivering quality education in a safe community-based environment.
