The John Calvin School Albany (Est.1962) is a K to 10 school which upholds Biblical truths and values. The school is affiliated with the Free Reformed Churches of Australia, which have, as a central tenet of their confessions, believe that God has established a covenant of grace with believers and their children. As an integral part of the instruction of the covenant children and in subjection to the Word of God, their education must help to optimally equip them for their service to God and their neighbor.
The students that attend the JCSA are viewed as God's children, precious in His eyes. A Special Education program is offered for those students that require it. The staff sincerely endeavors to conduct themselves in keeping with God's Word and instruct all students accordingly, aiming to realize this in the subjects offered, how they are taught, and their interaction with students. Students are encouraged to use and develop their God-given talents, and yet, while academic achievement is essential, the school views the aim of education as more profound than that.
Mission Statement teaches Covenant children, that is: assisting the parents of the Free Reformed Churches in their children's upbringing by providing Reformed education based on God's Word as summarized in the Three Forms of Unity.
Vision Statement is the education at a Reformed School must, as an integral part of the instruction of the Covenant children, and in subjection to God's Word, help to optimally equip them for their service to God and their neighbor.
Origin Statement is our school's heritage can be traced to the Great Reformation time, and it owes its name and emblem to a man used by God to lead the people back to Biblical truth. John Calvin (1509-1564), a Frenchman, sought to highlight God's pre-eminence in all of life. This conviction is symbolized in the School Crest, where a man offers his heart to the Lord, promptly and sincerely. This is the foundation of the school's educational philosophy.
