We provide music education to a community of over 1900 musicians through a variety of programs, including undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, numerous short courses, and Junior LCoM for those aged 9-18. Leeds is the third-largest city in the UK and has a thriving, eclectic music scene that provides the perfect backdrop to studying music. The conservatoire opened in 1965 as Leeds Music Centre, providing a Light Music course with a significant focus on Jazz. In 1993 Leeds College of Music launched the first Jazz degree in Europe, and in 2004 we became the first UK conservatoire to offer Popular Music, Music Production and later Music Business. Since our inception, fifty years have a diverse offering of music degrees spanning Popular Music, Classical Music, Jazz, Music Production, Music Business, Film Music, Songwriting, and Folk. Leeds College of Music is the first and only English conservatoire to hold All-Steinway School status. The conservatoire is also a designated Apple Accredited Training Centre, a regional hub for BASCA (British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors), and a Roland Academy in association with Roland UK. The beginnings of higher education in Maribor date back to the 19th century. In 1859, bishop Anton Martin Slomšek moved the seat of the Levantine diocese from St. Andraž in Lavanttal (Austrian Carinthia) to Maribor and soon afterward established a Slovenian seminary. That gave Maribor its first institution of higher education, which became an essential focal point of Slovenian religious, national, cultural, and scientific thought in the Slovenian Štajerska region. Great years were also 1863 when the two-year teacher-training school was established, and 1888, when it became a four-year school. The University of Maribor began to design an internal quality system in 1997 by establishing a select committee called the Quality Assessment Commission (KOKU). It is classified as a permanent committee of the Senate of the University since 2003. In 2006, UM established an independent professional service in charge of quality to coordinate activities in quality monitoring and provide KOKU with technical support. In 2011, Rector Prof. Danijel Rebolj, Ph. D identified quality development as a priority. He appointed a Vice-Rector for Quality Development and established the Quality Development Centre. Since 2009, UM is conducting internal institutional evaluations by the Criteria for the Accreditation and External Evaluation of Higher Education Institutions and Study Programmes a regular basis (Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education). In 2012, UM began to conduct follow-up internal institutional evaluations. Since students play an increasingly important role in the development of quality, UM provides them with training in line with the SPARQL model to develop a unique model for student participation in the quality assurance system at UM. Another significant challenge is also to raise the academic community's awareness of the importance of its participation (employees and students) in evaluations of UM's education activities and scientific research. Towards the end of 2012, the Senate of the University adopted the Quality Manual. In terms of the development of a culture of quality, UM's mission is to transform itself into a sustainable and socially responsible institution. In 2011, the Council for Sustainability and Social Responsibility was established, chaired by the Rector. The concept of sustainable development has been supplemented with the principles of social responsibility. The Senate adopted the new strategy in May 2012. In April 2012, the Committee for Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility was established, which prepared a draft policy of sustainable development and social responsibility as well as a list of relevant activities until 2020, among which priorities for 2013 have been identified. At UM's initiative, the Resolution on the Commitment of Slovene Universities to Develop a Quality Culture in HE was prepared and signed by the rectors of Slovene universities in March 2012. The University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno is the only university in the Czech Republic specializing in veterinary medicine, veterinary hygiene and ecology, and just one of two that teaches pharmaceutical science. It can be found within the City of Brno in the city district of Brno - Královo Pole. The university campus is situated on unique premises with a distinctive atmosphere created by the building's enclosed spatial layout. It combines the character of 19th-century structures with modern buildings from the past years. The park, with its mature trees, adds to the campus atmosphere. The university campus also features a greenhouse, botanical gardens, and certain rare or unusual species of trees, such as the London Planetree of the majestic European Beech, entered into a contest for Brno's prettiest tree. At the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, education occurs within the framework of the Master's degree program of Veterinary Medicine in the Czech and English language. The study is full-time. Bachelor studies are conducted within the framework of the Bachelor's degree program in the field of Food Safety and Quality and the field of Animal Protection and Welfare, both in Czech and English language. The standard length of study is three years. Studies are completed by taking a state final exam, and graduates are bestowed with the title of "Bachelor" (abbreviated "Bc.", listed before one's name). The study can be full-time and combined. Master studies are conducted within the framework of the Master's degree program in the field of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology in the languages of Czech and English. The standard length of study is six years. The study is full-time. Studies include the entire spectrum of veterinary medicine. However, they are strongly oriented towards food-producing animals, mainly cattle, pigs, and fowl, towards the production of foods of an animal origin, hygienic and health safety of foods, and towards supervision over the safety of these foods. Studies end with a rigorous state exam comprised of component tests from milk hygiene and technology, from veterinary protection of public health, from animal diseases and legislation, and clinical tests of ruminant and swine diseases. Graduates are bestowed with the title of "Doctor of Veterinary Medicine" (abbreviated "MVDr", listed before one's name). Graduates find work in state bodies of veterinary administration through veterinary supervision and control of foods of animal origin, in diagnostics laboratories, and also in food production companies. Doctoral studies are conducted within the framework of the Doctor's degree program of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology in 7 fields in the Czech language and five fields in English. Entrance exams are comprised of an interview with the applicant, in which mainly the potential student's prospects for scientific work are verified. The standard length of study is three years. Studies conclude with a state Doctoral exam and a Doctoral thesis. Graduates are awarded the academic title of "Doctor" (abbreviated "Ph.D., listed in front of one's name). The Faculty of Pharmacy enables Master's and Doctoral studies and takes part in Lifelong Learning. The standard length in the field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is four years, three years for all others. Studies conclude with a state Doctoral exam and defense of a Doctoral thesis. College of Business and Hotel Management (CBHM) got the state consent for the status of the private college of the non-university type according to the 39th, 87th (F), and 105th paragraph, the Act on Higher Education Institutions (considered and amended), 2009. The purpose of the CBHM is to accomplish the mission of the non-university type of college that provides its graduate with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for manager positions in the field of hotel and tourism industry. The condition to enter theCBHM, bachelor's degree, is to graduate from a secondary school with an A level examination. The fact must be substantiated with the appropriate A level document. The graduates from foreign countries have to substantiate the education achieved with the appropriate documentation, including the recognition clause, in conformity with the regulation 12/2005. Not necessary for the students from the Slovak Republic. A part of the entrance examination is an interview with the candidate, including the verification of the fulfillment of the conditions stated, motivational interview, choice of foreign languages, information about the study, contracting. The CBHM accepts the application continuously according to its limits. The application is submitted with the standard SEVT blank. The application might be submitted in an electronic form as well. In the case of an electronic application, it is necessary to substantiate the graduation with the authentic copy of the A level attestation or to bring the original, and the school will ensure the authentic copy. In case the graduate has not finished secondary school yet, he/she will submit the attestation as soon as possible. The students from the Slovak Republic may pay the fee in cash while presenting in the entrance interviewing. The graduate personal data will be disposed of in conformity with the valid regulations. The graduate will have achieved the education necessary for positions in the management of hotels, hotel chains, other accommodation units, and different institutions with particular regard to the European Union conditions. The College of Physical Education and Sport PALESTRA, L.t.d. is a private, recently accredited, non-university college that enriches the offer of educational opportunities to achieve a bachelor's degree with a focus on the area of physical education, sport and leisure time management. It follows up the tradition and experience gained in the period of the nine-year existence of College with similar specialization. The curriculum is comparable with the university education systems abroad. It is implemented in a credit form, which is compatible with the European credit transfer system. It covers the following fields of Study: Sport and fitness specialist, Sport and leisure time management educationist, which are carried out in the form of three year bachelor study program. The tuition in the first two semesters is unified and integral for both fields. The aim and focus of specialization modules enable students, based on their interests, to specialize in the two critical fields of study "Sport and fitness specialist" and "Sport and leisure time management educationist." Concerning the future career of the graduates, substantial stress is put on the interaction of the theoretical side of specific subjects with the practice. For this reason, these modules comprise a more extensive volume of practical tuition and practice.
