ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:
This is a fantastic opportunity for a suitably experienced person to join the Mater Hospital as a Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) of a 28 bed general surgical ward (McQuion Ward).
This is a permanent full-time role. The position is responsible for the day-to-day running of the ward including leading and managing the team to ensure high standard of patient care and meeting quality and financial KPIs.
The ward is a highly productive surgical unit with a varied surgical case mix including:
ENT Adults and Paediatrics
Gynaecology
Urology
Bariatrics surgery
Plastic surgery

About you:
The position will work closely with our Visiting Medical Officer (VMO), allied health, and multidisciplinary team to provide excellent patient outcomes post-surgery.
Selection Criteria
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA). Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in surgical nursing
Relevant management experience and tertiary qualification in management or a willingness to work towards management qualification
Ability to create a transformational leadership environment
A demonstrated knowledge in financial, budget and human resources management
Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal and conflict management skills
An ability to understand and navigate complex stakeholder environments, engage and influence stakeholders effectively and build consensus, where required
Experience in management of change, risk management and quality improvement processes
A commitment to the philosophy, mission, values, ethics and Code of Conduct of St Vincent’s Health Australia
