Accountable for the daily management of equipment, materials, and instruments for assigned specialty team or area within the department. Coordinates equipment, materials, and instruments for surgical procedures, assuring presence, location and availability. Educates users on equipment function and processing. Ensures that proper coding and billing processes are in place. Acts as a member of the Value Analysis Committee. Collaborates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
- Assures all equipment, materials and instruments are ready for each case and is responsible for establishing and maintaining their locations within the department.
- Coordinates with Central Services the processing of equipment, materials and instruments.
- Assists with training and education of colleagues in the use and processing of equipment, materials and instruments.
- Aggressively seeks and recommends cost savings possibilities based upon new sources, substitutions, improved systems, or new technology. Assures all billing information is accurate for each case.
- Coordinates the ordering/purchasing of approved specialty/non-stock items for the department, in collaboration with team members. Maintains knowledge of current and prospective surgery products, organizing trials, collecting and analyzing evaluations, making recommendations for change in equipment purchases to specialty teams.
- Coordinates preventive maintenance program for equipment, and routine infrastructure repair.
- Works collaboratively with others to identify opportunities for standardization of products in the department and across the organization. Investigates alternative sources for items that have been depleted in coordination with the specialty team leaders and Supply Chain Management.
- Assist with preference card maintenance.
- Required Associate's Degree or equivalent preferably in business, operations, nursing or other related healthcare area
- Four years of related experience Required
- LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire preferred Or
- CRT-Surgical Technologist, Certified (CST) - AST Association of Surgical Technologist Upon Hire preferred Or
- CRT-Surgical Technologist, Certified (CST) - NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Upon Hire preferred
- CRT-Anesthesia Technician, Certified (Cer. A.T.) - Upon Hire preferred
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association UPON HIRE Ambulatory Surgical Centers;
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross UPON HIRE Ambulatory Surgical Centers;
