Job Description:

This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of Zscaler platforms as part of the enterprise Zero Trust architecture across the Hitachi Rail group environment.

The role provides advanced technical expertise in secure access and Zero Trust technologies, acting as the lead engineer for Zscaler platforms including Internet access, private application access, and identity-driven traffic enforcement.

The engineer will design and implement secure access patterns aligned to Zero Trust principles, ensuring that users, devices, and applications connect to corporate resources through identity-based, policy-driven controls rather than traditional network-based approaches.

The role is responsible for configuring and maintaining Zscaler platforms, including policy management, traffic inspection, application segmentation, and integration with identity platforms such as Okta. This includes enablement of secure access to both cloud and on-premise applications.

The position will work closely with Network Operations, Identity & Access Management, Cloud & Hosting, Cyber Security, and Regional IT teams to ensure consistent implementation of secure access policies and integration across all environments.

The role will lead implementation of Zero Trust initiatives, including replacement of legacy VPN-based access models with modern identity-aware access methods, improving security posture and user experience.

The engineer will also provide technical leadership and guidance to other engineers and teams, ensuring consistent adoption of Zero Trust principles and alignment with enterprise standards.

Ultimately, the role ensures Zscaler platforms operate as a secure, scalable, and reliable access control layer, enabling consistent and controlled connectivity across the organisation.
