Job Description
Amazon's Security team is looking for a TEMPEST Engineer to protect the classified space and systems that a U.S. Government AI Factory program depends on.
Emanations security sits on the critical path for accreditation, and we need someone who can both run the test and own the program behind it. You will plan and perform instrumented TEMPEST/EMSEC testing and signal analysis, then develop and maintain the TEMPEST program and documentation that carries those results into the accreditation package. You will verify RED/BLACK separation and TEMPEST countermeasures and work directly with the certified TEMPEST technical authority (CTTA) and the Government accreditation authority. Partnering with physical security, construction security specialists, systems engineers, and our Government counterparts, you will take classified space and equipment from design to accredited, and keep it that way.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Plan and perform instrumented TEMPEST/EMSEC testing and signal analysis on classified systems and facilities; set up test equipment, take measurements, record findings, and produce test reports.
- Identify compromising-emanation vulnerabilities and recommend, implement, and verify TEMPEST countermeasures and mitigations.
- Develop and maintain the TEMPEST program, TEMPEST Checklist, and emanations-security test documentation in support of the ICD 705 accreditation package.
- Verify RED/BLACK equipment and cabling separation and installation against CNSSAM TEMPEST/01-13 and related standards.
- Coordinate with the certified TEMPEST technical authority (CTTA) and the Government accreditation authority on TEMPEST requirements, countermeasure reviews, and findings.
- Track TEMPEST testing status, findings, and retest and reaccreditation actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams, general contractors, architects, and engineers prior to and during facility builds to ensure emanations-security requirements are captured and met.
- Read and understand construction details and drawings that capture Government TEMPEST and RED/BLACK requirements and standards.
A day in the life
No two days look the same, because classified space moves through phases and so do you. One morning you are on site with test equipment, taking instrumented emanations measurements and analyzing signals; that afternoon you are writing up findings and updating the TEMPEST Checklist and accreditation documentation. Some days you are walking a build with construction security specialists and engineers, confirming RED/BLACK separation against the drawings before walls close. Others you are on the phone with the CTTA and the Government accreditation authority, working countermeasure reviews and closing out findings. You move fluidly between the bench and the program, and you are the person who makes sure the emanations-security details are right so accreditation stays on track.
