The function owns and continuously develops the enterprise AI Governance, Risk and Value Management framework, promoting responsible use of AI while supporting compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and corporate objectives.
As an AI Risk Management Expert, you will lead the evolution of Hitachi Energy's AI Risk Management framework. Working across the Three Lines of Defense and in close collaboration with business and supporting functions, you will manage AI risk policy documents, drive AI risk oversight, prepare and facilitate risk councils, challenge risk and control decisions, monitor risk exposure, and support consolidated AI risk reporting. Acting as the 2nd Line of Defense for AI Risk Management, you will provide effective oversight and challenge to help ensure that AI-related risks are consistently identified, assessed, treated, monitored, and reported across Hitachi Energy, while risk ownership and accountability remain with the 1st Line.
How You'll Make an Impact:

- Develop and lead AI Risk Management training, guidance, and knowledge resources to strengthen AI risk management capabilities across business and technical stakeholder groups, including facilitation of workshops and awareness sessions.
- Analyze, monitor, and challenge AI risks, issues, risk treatment decisions, and the design and effectiveness of risk mitigation controls, and facilitate relevant risk councils and committee meetings.
- Support the identification and prioritization of AI-related risks, perform risk analysis and business impact analysis, and coordinate risk assessments, while ensuring risk ownership, treatment decisions, and accountability remain with the 1st Line of Defense.
- Drive consolidated AI risk reporting across Hitachi Energy, providing transparency into key risk exposures, emerging issues, control weaknesses, and mitigation progress.
- Build and maintain a strong network across business, technology, and risk functions to support consistent execution of risk assessments and integration of AI risk requirements across the organization.
- Promote strong AI risk management practices through community engagement, internal communications, knowledge sharing, mentoring, coaching, and practical risk guidance for business and technical practitioners.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with external suppliers and specialist partners supporting implementation and continuous improvement of the AI Risk Management framework and processes.
- Manage external suppliers and consultants effectively, ensuring agreed deliverables, timelines, quality expectations, and costs are appropriately managed.
Your Background:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Management, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience in Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, Governance, Internal Controls, or related disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of recognized AI risk management frameworks and standards, including NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 42001, combined with a very good understanding of applicable AI regulatory requirements, including the EU AI Act.
- Demonstrated expertise in Integrated Risk Management and AI Governance platforms, preferably ServiceNow GRC/IRM, AI Control Tower, or comparable enterprise solutions.
- Proven experience in preparing and facilitating risk governance bodies, risk committees, workshops, and decision-making forums at operational and tactical levels.
- Strong understanding of Three Lines of Defense, including the distinction between 1st Line risk ownership and 2nd Line oversight, monitoring, and challenge.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across business, technology, risk and compliance functions, senior stakeholders, and external suppliers.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex AI, technology, regulatory, and risk topics into clear business implications and actionable risk decisions.
