Job Description
Amazon Robotics is building a brand-new robotics manipulation platform, and we need a versatile software engineer to help bring it to life. In this role, you will own critical software components spanning robotics middleware, health monitoring, and fleet management — systems that must work reliably for a single robot and scale to fleets of thousands. You will work across a broad technology stack, from real-time C++ on the robot to full-stack web applications on AWS, while applying generative AI to automate and streamline operational workflows.
This is a greenfield opportunity where your architectural decisions will shape how Amazon's next generation of robotic systems operate. You will lead multi-engineer projects, influence technical direction across peer teams, and mentor junior engineers — all while writing exemplary code that sets the standard for your team. If you are a curious, adaptable engineer who thrives on solving hard problems across multiple technology domains, we would love to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, build, and own software components for robotics middleware, health monitoring, and fleet management that scale from individual robots to fleets of thousands.
- Lead the technical design and architecture of systems on a new robotics manipulation platform, balancing real-time performance constraints with long-term extensibility and maintainability.
- Collaborate with peer robotics, hardware, and operations teams to define interfaces, resolve cross-team dependencies, and ensure successful end-to-end delivery of integrated robotic systems.
- Apply generative AI tools and techniques to automate workflows, improve developer productivity, and accelerate the team's ability to iterate on new capabilities.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and hands-on guidance, raising the overall quality and engineering practices of the team.
A day in the life
You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, owning your projects from concept through production deployment. On a given day you might be writing real-time C++ for robot control in the morning, reviewing a teammate's AWS service design after lunch, and prototyping a generative AI workflow automation by end of day. You will regularly connect with stakeholders across peer robotics and operations teams to align on priorities, unblock dependencies, and share technical insights — while also carving out focused time for deep, heads-down engineering work.
Amazon offers a full range of benefits that assist you and eligible family members, including domestic partners. Benefits can vary by location, the number of regularly scheduled hours you work, length of employment, and job status such as seasonal or temporary employment. The benefits that generally apply to regular, full-time employees include:
1. Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
2. Maternity and Parental Leave Options
3. Paid Time Off (PTO)
4. 401(k) Plan
