Job Description
Global Road Safety (GRS) is seeking a Risk Manager, Risk Assurance to own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the risk assurance program across Amazon's global transportation network. In this role, you will build the frameworks, methodologies, and tools that enable GRS field teams to execute consistent, scalable assurance activities.
You define how risk controls are evaluated, establish the governance cadence, and ensure the program delivers measurable outcomes as Amazon scales. You will develop the playbooks, assessment criteria, and reporting mechanisms that field teams use to validate control effectiveness across the network.
You own the operating rhythm, track remediation to closure, and surface systemic risk themes to leadership. This is a program ownership role requiring someone who can build structure from ambiguity, drive accountability across distributed teams, and scale governance programs without being the sole executor.
Key job responsibilities
• Own the end-to-end design and implementation of the risk assurance program, defining assessment methodologies, control testing standards, and governance processes
• Develop and maintain the playbooks, tools, and templates that enable GRS field teams to execute consistent assurance activities across all regions and transportation modes
• Establish the governance cadence for risk assurance, including assessment scheduling, escalation protocols, finding resolution tracking, and closure verification
• Build and maintain risk registers and control libraries that provide leadership with a clear, current view of residual risk across the network
• Define assessment criteria and scoring frameworks that field teams use to evaluate compliance with On-The-Road (OTR) safety regulations, policies, standards, and procedures
• Track remediation progress across the network, driving accountability with operational owners and escalating systemic gaps to leadership
• Synthesize findings from field-executed assessments to identify systemic risk themes, inform policy improvements, and recommend program enhancements
• Design and deliver training curricula that build field team capability in risk assurance methodology and controls testing
• Develop reporting mechanisms and dashboards that give leadership visibility into program coverage, risk posture, and remediation velocity
• Continuously improve program design as it scales, incorporating feedback from field execution and adapting to new geographies and transportation modes

- Experience designing and implementing assurance, audit, or governance programs within an operational environment
- Experience building scalable processes, playbooks, or frameworks that are executed by distributed teams
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Science, Risk Management, or Engineering Analytics

- Certification in SMS (e.g., SMS Pro, ICAO SMS) or risk management (e.g., ISO 31000, ARM, CRMA)
