Registered Midwives – Birth Suite, Antenatal & Postnatal

We are seeking Registered Midwives to join our Maternity Services team in permanent full-time and part-time positions across Birth Suite, Antenatal/CTG Clinic and Postnatal Care.

This is an opportunity to be part of a newly upgraded maternity service, providing compassionate, individualised care to women, newborns and their families within a contemporary clinical environment. You’ll be supported by experienced senior midwives and nursing leaders, with access to ICU capabilities and dedicated midwifery support, as well as a broad range of specialist physicians who work collaboratively with Obstetricians to provide comprehensive care. About St Vincent’s Private Maternity Service, Fitzroy

Our newly upgraded maternity service provides a modern environment for women, babies and families, including refurbished luxury postnatal suites and an upgraded Special Care Nursery. Our Special Care Nursery features advanced technology and an experienced clinical team caring for babies requiring additional support, including babies born prematurely from 32 weeks' gestation. Our maternity team works collaboratively across the continuum of care, providing opportunities to develop your experience across Birth Suite, Antenatal assessment and Postnatal care.

About the role

We have permanent full-time and part-time opportunities available across:

· Birth Suite & Antenatal/CTG Clinic

· Postnatal Floor

· Postnatal Floor – Night Duty

As a Registered Midwife, you will plan, provide and evaluate individualised midwifery care to women and their babies within a multidisciplinary team. Depending on your experience and area of interest, you may have opportunities to work across Birth Suite and Postnatal Care, broadening your clinical skills and experience across the maternity journey.

Birth Suite & Antenatal/CTG

Our Birth Suite provides exposure to a broad range of normal and complex maternity presentations, providing opportunities to further develop your skills across inductions of labour, epidurals, instrumental births, caesarean births, VBAC, high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your skills in antenatal assessment and CTG surveillance, working alongside experienced midwives and obstetric clinicians.

Professional development and clinical education

We are committed to supporting our midwives to continually develop their knowledge, confidence and clinical skills. You’ll have access to ongoing education and professional development, including programs such as FSEP, CTG education, maternal and neonatal resuscitation, obstetric emergency simulation, PROMPT/obstetric emergency training, practical skills training and education sessions.

With experienced senior midwives and nursing leaders available to support you, this is an environment where you can build your clinical confidence while being encouraged to take the next step in your career. ABOUT YOU:

As a Registered Midwife, you will have:

· Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife

· A dedication to patient-focused care and working as part of a team

· Excellent interpersonal skills and effective problem-solving abilities

· Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team

· A strong work ethic and the ability to work under pressure

· A commitment to continuous professional development

· The ability to work flexibly on a rotating roster including weekends and night duty shifts

Requirement for roles in the birth suite and antenatal / CTG clinic:

· Recent hands-on experience in the birth suite

· Proficiency in FSEP and resuscitation skills

· Experience in a CTG Clinic or Antenatal Assessment (preferred)

Requirements for roles on post-natal floor (including night duty role)

· A minimum of 2 years' experience (not including a post graduate year) in midwifery.
