Job Description

Playback is the heart of any streaming service, the place where you root for your favorite team, love to hate that villain, and indulge in the guilty pleasure of reality shows. Are you are passionate about streaming content, and interested in shaping the future of video experiences? Prime Video is re-inventing how customers connect with entertainment by combining high-quality live streaming, immersive interactive features, and exclusive access to some of the world's most loved movies, TV series, and live sports. All from a single service available on the web, mobile, and TV in 240+ countries and territories around the world. And we're just getting started.

The Prime Video Experience Design (PVXD) studio is seeking a customer-obsessed Product Designer to join our Playback and Ads Experiences design team. This role will be responsible for creating industry first core video player controls and in playback interactions, with worldwide impacts across video surfaces, including living room, mobile and web. We need a person with a passion for solving problems at massive scale. You excel through innovation, creativity, and attention to detail. You are a proven strategic thinker and collaborator who flourishes in a large organization. You build innovative and creative experiences, but also insist on accessible and inclusive customer solutions.

You will participate in designing new ways for customers to enjoy streaming video. In a fast-paced, collaborative environment, you’ll work on all aspects of video playback, including information architecture, UI design, interaction design, motion, and prototyping deliverables. In this role you will work closely with other designers, user researchers, producers, design technologists, product managers, software developers, and executive leadership to drive designs from vision to execution and will also be a key part of a larger Design Studio collaborating across all aspects of the Prime Video service. Come build the future of entertainment with us.

Key job responsibilities
* Creating end-to-end design solutions for the Prime Video Playback and Ads design team, based on collaboration with our business and tech partners, and based on customer research and performance metrics.
* Analyze user interface problems to create on-brand design solutions that meet measurable business goals and requirements and work closely with the business team to develop use cases and high-level CX requirements.
* Work closely with our Design Systems group and A11y partners to create accessible designs, with consideration for WCAG guidelines, screen readers and multiple input methods.
* Push the forefront of new AI tools and usage, and new ways to work in a fast paced environment, redefining design best practices.
* Consistently advocate for customer needs while balancing advertiser considerations and monetization potential.
* Create user flows, wireframes, visual designs and prototypes as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors and to effectively communicate design solutions to PV leadership.
* Determine areas for research and testing and work closely with our research partners to execute against these needs.

A day in the life
The Product Designer for Prime Video Playback will solve some of our most complex customer problems while honoring award winning content across VOD, Sports and Linear digital streams. On any given day you might explore new ways for customers to time shift through their favorite movie, and then refine the visual design of an interactive ad in the afternoon. You will collaborate with UX Researchers, Product Managers, Engineers, and fellow UX Designers both within Prime Video, Amazon/MGM Studios and across Amazon, using your organization and communication skills to bring clarity and alignment.

About the team
You'll join a group of design practitioners who help each other develop and thrive. You will have a manager and colleagues that care about you, your career, and your skills development and you'll be expected to do the same for your team. You will have autonomy and ownership while contributing to the supportive culture of the group. We gather often to collaborate, ask questions, and grow together, so bring your unique skills and experience and be prepared to share, learn, and grow with us.
