About EY.ai Center for Reimagination

This hiring is for the EY.ai Center for Reimagination, an AI-led innovation and engineering capability focused on building next-generation enterprise experiences, intelligent platforms and reusable technology assets for EY clients and internal transformation priorities.

The center brings together multidisciplinary teams across cloud, data, AI, experience design, application engineering and emerging technologies to rapidly prototype, industrialise and scale AI-native solutions across sectors. The role will contribute to this mission by strengthening Unity-led real-time simulation, interactive experience engineering, digital twin visualisation and immersive multi-screen solution capabilities.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Unity Developer with 7+ years of professional Unity experience to design and build enterprise-grade real-time simulations, interactive touchscreen applications, digital twin experiences and multi-screen visualisation solutions. The role will focus on developing robust Unity Engine applications using C#, Unity Animator/Mecanim, motion logic, API integrations and high-performance UI experiences.

The successful candidate will bring deep Unity and C# engineering capability, strong understanding of real-time simulation workflows, animation state machines, physics-based motion, IoT data streams and backend integration, with the ability to optimise frame rates, profile performance and deliver polished interactive experiences for client-facing innovation environments.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Unity Engine applications using C# for real-time simulations, digital twins, interactive touchscreen interfaces and multi-screen experiences.
• Implement simulation logic, motion logic, physics-based animation, interaction flows, UI behaviours and data-driven visualisation components.
• Build and configure animation state machines using Unity Animator/Mecanim, including rigging workflows, motion capture integration and character or object movement systems.
• Integrate Unity applications with backend platforms, REST APIs, WebSockets, MQTT, IoT data streams and networking protocols for live and near-real-time experiences.
• Create reliable UI and backend integration patterns for data visualisation, telemetry dashboards, operational interfaces and interactive client demos.
• Optimise application performance through profiling, frame-rate tuning, memory management, asset optimisation and platform-specific performance improvements.
• Collaborate with designers, 3D artists, backend engineers, architects and product owners to convert storyboards, experience concepts and business requirements into production-ready Unity solutions.
• Support training simulation workflows, interactive walkthroughs, operational scenario modelling and enterprise experience prototypes.
• Apply clean coding practices, reusable component architecture, version control, code reviews, automated testing where relevant and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot production issues, analyse runtime behaviour, resolve bottlenecks and improve stability, responsiveness and visual fidelity of deployed Unity experiences.
• Work in Agile Scrum delivery by supporting requirement clarification, backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, demos and retrospectives.
• Mentor junior engineers, promote engineering discipline and provide technical ownership for Unity-led experience delivery.

Skills and attributes for success

Must-have Unity, simulation and integration skills 

• 7+ years of hands-on professional experience in Unity Engine development with strong C# programming skills.
• Strong understanding of Unity architecture, component-based design, scene management, prefabs, scripting patterns and reusable module development.
• Experience building real-time simulations, interactive touchscreen applications, multi-screen experiences, digital twins or enterprise visualisation solutions.
• Working knowledge of Unity Animator/Mecanim, animation state machines, rigging concepts, motion capture integration and physics-based animation.
• Experience integrating Unity applications with REST APIs, WebSockets, MQTT, IoT data streams and backend services.
• Ability to create data visualisation interfaces, real-time dashboards, interaction layers and responsive UI components inside Unity.
• Strong debugging and optimisation skills, including Unity Profiler, performance profiling, frame-rate optimisation, asset optimisation and memory management.
• Good understanding of networking protocols, asynchronous communication, event-driven architecture and low-latency application behaviour.
• Experience with Git-based source control, Agile delivery, code reviews, technical documentation and collaboration with distributed engineering teams.
• Strong communication, ownership and problem-solving skills with the confidence to work independently on complex Unity-led simulation and experience engineering challenges.
• Experience deploying Unity applications to WebGL/Unity Web platforms, including browser-based interactive visualizations, digital twins, simulations and enterprise experience portals.
• Strong understanding of web integration patterns, including JavaScript interoperability, REST APIs, WebSockets, authentication mechanisms and cloud-hosted Unity experiences.
• Experience integrating Unity applications with AI and agentic systems utilizing protocols such as Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling interaction with external tools, enterprise systems, data sources and AI services.

Ideally, you’ll also have 

• Experience delivering enterprise training simulations, digital twin command centers, immersive client experience zones or industrial visualisation platforms.
• Exposure to AR/VR/XR, projection mapping, large-format displays, multi-device synchronisation or physical-digital experience environments.
• Familiarity with 3D modelling pipelines, asset optimisation, Blender/Maya workflows, shader basics, lighting, materials and visual polish for real-time applications.
• Experience with cloud-connected services, telemetry ingestion, edge devices, sensor integrations or enterprise IoT platforms.
