Job Description

As a Float Pool RN, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a variety of high-impact units, including:

  • 🚨 Emergency Room
  • 🏥 Medical-Surgical
  • ❤️ Telemetry
  • 🧠 Neurology Progressive Care

Schedule: 36 hours per week - 12-hour shifts

What You'll Do

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides safe, compassionate, patient- and family-centered care using the nursing process:


Assessment → Planning → Implementation → Evaluation

In this role, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs of patients and families.
  • Perform assessments, develop nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care, provide health education and promotion, and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Deliver age- and developmentally appropriate care consistent with nursing standards, evidence-based practice, and MUSC policies.
  • Direct and lead assigned team members while collaborating effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Identify clinical priorities and take initiative to improve patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of patient care through the application of care management principles.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by protecting patient privacy and demonstrating responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, autonomy, and accountability in daily practice.
  • Actively participate in the professional practice model, including shared governance, peer review, professional development, and leadership initiatives.
  • Promote a healthy work environment through effective communication, teamwork, collaboration, and respect.
  • Pursue ongoing professional growth and clinical excellence.

Additional Job Description

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

License & Certifications

  • Current South Carolina or compact-state Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
