Job Description
Are you an experienced Registered Nurse ready to take the next step in your nursing career? MUSC Health is seeking a Registered Nurse, Charge for our Neurology Progressive Care Unit to provide exceptional patient care while serving as a clinical resource and leader for the nursing team.
In this role, you will use your nursing expertise, sound judgment, and leadership skills to help ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout the assigned shift. You will work closely with nurses, patient care staff, providers, and leadership to coordinate care, support team members, and promote a positive patient experience.
What You'll Do
- Provide professional nursing care to patients of all ages using the nursing process, while promoting health, wellness, education, and patient safety.
- Providing clinical leadership and oversight during the shift.
- Coordinate and prioritize patient care activities to support safe and efficient unit operations.
- Provide guidance, support, and clinical resources to licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff.
- Utilize effective delegation and supervision to ensure appropriate delivery of patient care.
- Use independent nursing judgment to identify patient care needs, address concerns, and appropriately utilize available resources.
- Monitor unit operations and promptly communicate concerns, challenges, or identified problems to the Department Director or House Supervisor.
- Promote compliance with nursing practice standards, hospital policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assist with staffing needs and may be assigned on-call responsibilities to support appropriate staffing coverage.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote continuity and quality of patient care.
- Serve as a positive role model, resource, and mentor for members of the nursing team.
- Help foster a professional, collaborative, and patient-centered environment.
- Report to the Department Director for overall nursing practice and to the House Supervisor for responsibilities during the assigned shift.
- Demonstrate flexibility and dependability, including reporting for scheduled shifts during inclement weather when required.
Additional Job Description
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Progressive care, neurology, acute care, critical care, or charge/leadership experience is preferred.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse license through the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
