The opportunity
As a member of the Global Legal Operations team, the Legal Operations Manager is a generalist whose broad range of responsibilities within EY’s Global Legal team includes the design, management, and implementation of strategic initiatives that will advance the Legal function’s mission and drive efficient and effective delivery of legal services.
Your key responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a variety of Legal Operations projects and initiatives, including designing and implementing legal technology and process improvement solutions
- Proactively identify and incubate initiatives that advance Legal’s strategic priorities around efficiency, simplification, continuous improvement and value creation
- Design and generate reports, dashboards and data visualizations to provide insights and analysis of Legal function operations and technology
- Implement best practices, automation, and technology solutions to drive efficiency and process improvement
- Provide training and support to Legal professionals on new technology, tools, and procedures
- Assist with management of external counsel and vendor relationships, billing, and spend
- Liaise with Legal functional and regional teams to understand challenges and drive coordinated strategy to streamline processes
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the Legal function
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role you must have
- Basic knowledge of legal department operations
- Experience in managing legal projects
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to recognize trends, report issues and translate data into actionable insights
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, relationship building, and global acumen
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, PowerBI
- Basic knowledge of project management practices and tools
- Bachelor’s degree
- Approximately 5 or more years of experience in a legal operations role or similar role with knowledge of in-house legal operations
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Experience leading large scale legal operations projects, including design and implementation of enterprise legal management and contract lifecycle management systems
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques to extract insights from legal and operational data
- Strong project management skills
- Familiarity with advanced legal technology platforms and tools, evolving legal practices, technologies and industry trends
- Experience in effectively managing and communicating change within the legal department to facilitate adoption of new processes and technologies
- Demonstrated ability to identify the root causes of issues, develop creative and practical solutions, and assess potential impacts on related areas.
