Since 1920, Rectory School has challenged students intellectually, guided them morally, inspired them artistically, and encouraged them athletically. In the time leading up to our 2020 celebration, we will be planning Centennial-Year receptions, collecting stories and memorabilia, building the School archives, and sharing voices of alumni, students, parents, employees, and friends. At Rectory, we know that not all students learn the same way. Rectory's supportive environment enables us to create a Personalized Learning Plan that fits your child. Our signature Individualized Instruction Program (IIP) allows students to build skills, develop executive functioning strategies, and gain the remediation and enrichment they need to thrive in a challenging academic program.
At Rectory, we build a foundation of core academic skills, create powerful learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom, and foster strong ethical and social values. The result is students who understand themselves and the world around them and prepare for their next school and life.
Rectory School's mission is to provide students, from early childhood through middle School, with an enriched and supportive academic, social and ethical community that addresses individual learning styles, aptitudes, and needs while promoting personal self-worth and accountability. The school community lives the Rectory School Creed: Responsibility, Respect, Honesty, and Compassion.
While Rectory cannot replace a child's real family, it is dedicated to providing boarding students with an enriched and supportive community, which becomes their home away from home. Rectory meets each student's individual needs–boarder or day– and asks each child to contribute his or her particular aptitudes or skills to the Rectory family. In this supportive atmosphere, they get to know themselves and become confident, lifelong learners, and contributors.
