Ursuline Academy is an independent, college-preparatory Catholic high school for young women in grades 9-12 founded by the Ursuline Sisters of Brown County, Ohio, in 1896. Ursuline has a diverse student population of approximately 660 students representing over 50 zip codes.
Ursuline offers a rigorous curriculum specifically designed to prepare the student for college and beyond. In the spirit of our foundress, St. Angela Merici, and her vision of educating and empowering young women, Ursuline Academy of Cincinnati developed The Merici Model of education: a uniquely student-centered approach to learning. Through this model, we provide a culture where students are empowered to learn through their choices. This is enhanced by the Merici Schedule and the design of our campus.

In the vision of St. Angela Merici, Ursuline empowers the young woman to recognize her unique gifts, to give voice to her ideals, to strive for personal and academic excellence, to seek justice through actions inspired by Gospel values, and to accept the challenge of human freedom with its accompanying responsibilities. Ursuline welcomes diversity and fosters community in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
Ursuline Academy fosters community and an atmosphere of mutual respect by enhancing understanding and cooperation among all Ursuline students regarding different cultures, ethnicities, learning styles, opinions, religious traditions, sexual orientation, and socio-economic backgrounds. We believe that diversity brings richness and meaning to life. Exposure to a broad range of talents, perspectives, and experiences better prepare the young women of Ursuline Academy for full participation in our school, local, and global communities.
Ursuline students have the opportunity to fashion a course of study from required and elective subject offerings. Through the Merici Schedule, students can be flexible in planning required and elective courses. Advanced Placement courses offer each student the opportunity to challenge herself further academically. At Ursuline, in addition to preparing students for college work in a safe environment, AP classes allow students to discover passions and strengths earlier in their academic careers.
With 75% of Ursuline'sUrsuline's faculty holding doctoral or master's degrees, students receive the most comprehensive and thorough tools for academic excellence possible. The 11:1 student to faculty ratio makes individual attention a vital component of a Urse education.
Ursuline'sUrsuline's Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program has been implemented with the 2016-17 academic year, requiring all students to bring a laptop to school as part of her class materials. In keeping with Ursuline'sUrsuline's efforts to educate young women not just for school but for life, students were not issued, nor were they required to purchase a specific device. Instead, the BYOD program allows students to select a laptop that meets their needs while also meeting individual specifications laid out by the program. Ursuline offers technical support to students, along with training and consultation.
