The Woodstock Academy offers day and boarding students extensive programs in academics, arts, and athletics. Students at The Academy gain the opportunities offered by large schools within a close-knit community. Our rigorous academic program, balanced with numerous beyond-the-classroom activities, prepares each student for life after high school. Our campus is a quiet and safe place to learn and grow, located just one hour from Boston, Massachusetts.

Since 1801, The Woodstock Academy has been preparing all students for a lifetime of learning. Through academic rigor, diverse educational experiences, and community and global partnerships, our students build a foundation to explore and discover their passions. They are looking to their future.

We are proud of what our students do every day and how they do it – with kindness and respect for themselves and others. Our supportive community is a safe and nurturing environment where students can achieve, create, triumph, discover, and serve as they actively invest in family, school, community, and the world.

The Woodstock Academy prepares all students by providing diverse opportunities through a rigorous curriculum and various programs to cultivate the necessary skills to become lifelong learners and global citizens.

Founded in 1801, The Woodstock Academy is an independent, inclusive, and co-educational secondary school for local day students and boarding students from around the United States and the world. The Woodstock Academy provides both college preparatory and vocational education and has post-graduate program options.

Students from Woodstock, Pomfret, Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, and Union may attend The Academy as day students through town-payed tuition contracts. Outside of those sending towns, students attend as both day and boarding students and come from around the United States and the world.

The Woodstock Academy offers a comprehensive curriculum with various elective courses to satisfy the academic needs of a diverse student population. Graduates are prepared for life after The Academy and continue their education at universities, colleges, and other higher learning...

One of the greatest strengths of The Woodstock Academy is its broad, comprehensive programmatic offerings. No matter where students are headed after high school, there are over 200 challenging and exciting learning opportunities at The Academy.

Our graduation requirements encourage students to broadly explore our comprehensive curriculum by taking English, mathematics, science, social studies, world language, fine arts, humanities, STEM, career and life skills, and health and physical education.

With our block schedule, students have the opportunity to explore four different classes in-depth each semester.

There are four levels of instruction offered:

  • Standard
  • College Preparatory
  • Honors
  • Accelerated (includes Advanced Placement & Early College Experience)

Students can take Advanced Placement (AP) courses and courses that offer college credit through the University of Connecticut or Eastern Connecticut State University.

Many students at The Academy supplement their coursework with offerings through our Virtual High School (VHS) program or Independent Study program.

Learning, knowledge, and creative expression are greatly valued at The Woodstock Academy. Our highly qualified, gifted, and dedicated faculty and staff are committed to preparing all learners to overcome challenges, develop to their highest potential, and succeed today and in the future.

We hope that all graduates leave The Academy with a love of learning and that all have found a passion that defines their purpose.
