Spring Street students see their families, their communities, and themselves as participants in a much larger world. A progressive academic program, including five select APs, inspires Mastery in the sciences, humanities, and arts. Our location in the San Juan Islands, at the heart of Friday Harbor, presents day and boarding students with opportunities for real-world life experience through mentorships, outdoor excursions, and global expeditions that foster leadership and group cooperation, preparing each student for success in higher education—and life.

Spring Street is a multicultural, independent, day, and boarding school that provides students with a stimulating learning environment in a safe, rural setting. Students discover a love of learning and prepare for excellence in college. Challenging expeditions and travel experiences foster personal growth. Service in diverse communities teaches empathy, humility, and the importance of collaboration with others. Students become engaged, thoughtful, ethical participants in local and global communities.

Our programs are rooted in academic rigor and progressive educational philosophy of individual development, embodied in four fundamental principles:

• We vary our teaching methods accordingly and include experiential travel, service volunteering, and studies outside the classroom

Spring Street International School opened as Spring Street School in the fall of 1995 for students and parents seeking a rigorous academic program responsive to individual students' skill levels and interests. The school is approved by the Washington State Board of Education to serve students in grades six through twelve. Spring Street International School is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and is a Member of AdvancEd. As an independent school, it is registered as a non-profit organization governed by a board of trustees. It is committed to the independence of control by any government or church agency, or particular interest group. The school, its teachers and administrators, are accountable directly to its students and parents. It is free to select its own goals, curricula, teachers, and students to pursue excellence in education.
