Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey's oldest Catholic college preparatory school! We strive to ensure our students learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and appreciate diversity. The Prep is an extraordinary place where students are molded into men of character and faith and are given the tools to become contributing members of society.

We have a rich history, beginning in 1856, and we are the oldest Catholic college preparatory school in New Jersey. Seton Hall educates young men in grades nine through twelve. The Prep is administered by priests of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark. Our primary goal is to develop the whole man in the values of the Catholic faith spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically.

The Seton Hall Prep Community comprises a faculty of 95 men and women and a student body of approximately 975 young men from 130 localities. The Prep welcomes young men of every race, color, religious belief, national and ethnic origin who desire to contribute members of the school family and grow along with it. Binding this community together is the extraordinary support we enjoy from our parents, trustees, alumni, and friends.

The strength of the Seton Hall Prep community lies in the people that make it up. Our students are energetic, enthusiastic, talented, creative, and concerned. Our teachers are dedicated professionals who enjoy their vocation and care for their students. This relationship between our teachers and students fosters high standards and drives each student to account for his actions. In this way, students are readied for the realities of life and the challenges that they will most certainly have to face in the future.

Seton Hall Prep is proud of its Catholic heritage and eager to make it the heart of our mission. Each student is challenged to do his best. Personal responsibility is the hallmark of growth. In all areas of school life, this is of paramount importance.

The professional competence of our teachers and their readiness to engage students to strengthen them on this journey. Our faculty is known for their availability to students for help, guidance, and support. At Seton Hall Prep, our students learn to think critically, communicate effectively, appreciate diversity, as well as grow and develop:

• Academically: Through our talented teachers and our college preparatory curriculum, ensuring our students not only get into the best colleges and universities but also excel while there
• Spiritually: Through our Campus Ministry Office and Service Learning Program, allowing students to explore and grow spiritually no matter their particular faith or religious background
• Socially: Through the activities program, our students enjoy a wide-ranging selection of co-and extracurricular clubs and organizations
• Athletically: Led by our skilled and experienced coaches, our programs give our students the edge they need to compete now with other schools and in the future on the collegiate level.

Seton Hall Preparatory School is a Catholic, college-preparatory school called to serve young men of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Firmly rooted in our Catholic identity, our mission is to foster the spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical growth of our students to prepare them to meet the challenges of college and adulthood in a manner that embodies the values that this community cherishes. Among these values, we highlight spiritual awareness, academic excellence, personal maturity, and social responsibility, emphasizing service.

In each area of student development, we strongly affirm the establishment of goals and standards. We approach this from two perspectives: the objective measurement of performance when appropriate and a more subjective evaluation, which considers such intangibles as effort, commitment, and creativity. We aspire to excellence on both levels.

We recognize that each individual will pursue excellence in terms of his abilities and limitations. At the same time, we also recognize that he has the primary responsibility for developing his talents. We believe that the development of self-discipline is essential to this task and to the challenge of living the values that this community cherishes. We also recognize that self-discipline must be learned. Consequently, we believe that each student must be held accountable for his actions and that any failure to live up to one's responsibilities must entail consequences. This will prepare him for the realities of life and the challenges he will face in the future.

We embrace this philosophy and seek to implement it as we attempt to realize our ultimate aim: the development of mature young men who can think clearly and make informed value judgments, who can articulate their thoughts and accurately interpret the thoughts of others, who can act responsibly with consideration for others and take their place as active members of a pluralistic society. As an ideal, we propose men who can realize our motto, "Hazard Zet Forward," by boldly witnessing their faith, their hope, and their love.
