Chadwick School is a private, K-12 co-educational school dedicated to developing global citizens with keen minds, exemplary character, self-knowledge, and the ability to lead. Located on a 45-acre hilltop on the scenic Palos Verdes Peninsula, we aim to bring out the best in our students through experiential learning, one-on-one mentoring, unparalleled global opportunities, an outstanding athletics program, highly accredited outdoor education experiences, and an award-winning visual and performing arts program. We are pleased that more than 800 students from over 45 Southern California communities have chosen to call Chadwick "home."
For more than 80 years, Chadwick has been so much more than just a place to go to school. Generations of proud alumni, our current faculty, students, and their parents will tell you about the Core Values of a Chadwick education that shapes all that we do within and outside the classroom. We believe those Core Values of honesty, respect, responsibility, fairness, and compassion are essential building blocks for success in school, college, and later life.
Chadwick School has always emphasized the importance of excellence in the classroom, labs, studios, and playing fields. But our students are so much more than a collection of high grades, standardized test scores, and lists of admission to selective colleges and universities. As our founder, Margaret Chadwick, said, "We believe there is a marked distinction between thinking and memorizing. "
Starting in our Village School and continuing right up to graduation, our curriculum directly supports students' value, spending time out of the classroom, learning by doing and challenging themselves in our outstanding athletics, visual and performing arts, outdoor education, STEM, and nationally recognized community service programs.
For us, global studies are not merely an academic exercise. Our faculty and students regularly interact with faculty and students at Chadwick International, our sister school in Songdo, South Korea. Whether through faculty and student exchanges, extended visits, or electronically using our state of- the art Cisco Telepresence Communications Center, Chadwick students develop relationships with their peers in Korea and learn first-hand about cultural differences, norms, and traditions. Also, our student leadership councils, athletic teams, and multiple student groups travel to Songdo and host our Korean counterparts when they come to Palos Verdes.
At the heart of Chadwick, you will find talented faculty and staff who have high degrees of expertise in their field, communicate well with students, and are committed to helping all students grow academically, socially, and personally. Chadwick students create meaningful relationships with teachers, advisers, coaches, and peers. Surrounded by peers who share their values, Chadwick students are eager to come to school each day, develop lifelong friendships, and actively support one another's a success.
Chadwick Schools are deeply committed to self-discovery through experience and reflection. Students develop the joy of learning, self-confidence, well-being, and curiosity through interactive and practical experiences. Our schools share the core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, fairness, and compassion. Through active participation in an intentionally diverse and inclusive environment, students positively impact and beyond their communities. By living and learning in a student-centered, collaborative atmosphere of excellence, integrity, and trust, we come to expect the best of ourselves and others.
Chadwick is committed to providing the highest quality education, which requires a diverse and inclusive environment. Our active inquiry culture and open discussion promote students' ability to discern shared and divergent values and sensibilities while always using the Core Values as a compass to understand local and global perspectives. Chadwick students will learn to engage and communicate across differences, challenge stereotypes, and find, understand, and respect commonalities among individuals of all backgrounds.
Chadwick students will be led on a journey of self-discovery. The lived experience of Chadwick students, both inside and outside the classroom, prepares them to engage and thrive as leaders by example, in the world. Through our learning environment and our programs, students experience an essential dynamic between individuality and social responsibility.
