EduCativPosted October 16, 2020SharePosted October 16, 2020 At Castilleja, we bring together highly motivated, intellectually curious young women from diverse backgrounds to collaborate and learn from one another in a 6th through 12th-grade setting. Teachers prioritize experiential and project-based learning that is engaging and relevant to girls. Castilleja students are willing to work hard, and they share in a commitment to our values and are inspired by our atmosphere of creativity and invention. Every Castilleja student graduates with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make a difference as a citizen of her local and global community. We are passionate about teaching young women who become intellectual partners through mentorship. The Castilleja faculty is dedicated to the school’s mission of educating young women for a lifetime of learning and leading and recognized by local, state, and national organizations for their contributions to student learning. Castilleja’s student body reflects the cultural and economic diversity of our region. However, most students live on the San Francisco Peninsula, many commutes from Burlingame to the north, San Jose to the south, and East Bay communities. Our challenging 6th through 12th academic program is enhanced by our global curriculum, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programming, and leadership opportunities at all grade levels. Castilleja fosters leadership in the classroom and various co-curricular offerings, including athletics, clubs, community action, student government, dramatic and musical performances, peer tutoring, teaching assistantships, and internships. A commitment to our core values supports the pursuit of Castilleja’s mission, the 5Cs: Courage, Conscience, Courtesy, Charity, and Character. The 5Cs guide students towards ethical Character development. Courage is fostered, and everyone is treated with Courtesy. Conscience propels us to do the right thing, and Charity means making sacrifices to ensure that everyone shares the same rights and privileges. Every student, through her Castilleja education, is poised to live her life according to the 5Cs. At Castilleja, each of us is responsible for fostering an equitable, respectful, and just community. We believe that our connections to others are more meaningful when experienced in a diverse community that invites members to bring all aspects of their respective identities into our shared space. At Castilleja, we are all learners together. We collectively commit to engaging in active listening, courageous conversations, and compassionate leadership that heightens our understanding of one another and the world around us. We learn from and highlight the diversity of our community by creating intentional spaces, facilitating learning opportunities, and dedicating resources to make it possible for us to be more equitable, diverse, and inclusive.View full schoolQuoteLink to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options...
