Founded on January 1st 2007 by the three following Graduate Institutes in Science and Engineering INA P-G - Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon ENGREF – Ecole Nationale du Génie Rural, des Eaux et des Forêts ENSIA – Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Industries Agricoles et Alimentaires. Two missions Considered superior establishment "leader" in the life sciences, AgroParisTech led miss two fundamental ions: - the training of engineers in the heart of an extensive system to other academic programs and "professionalizing" articulated in regional networks or theme built with many partners -. the production and dissemination of knowledge (research and development) in partnership with major research organizations and any relevant professional technical centers.

Practice areas AgroParisTech has set six core competency areas for its faculty and activities for its graduates: o agricultural and forest resources, o environment, o the agro-industrial processing, o biotechnology, o distribution, where all services accompanying the act of production and marketing. the power of men and nutritional concerns, health, preventing health risks, protection of the environment, sustainable management of natural resources and, more generally, development of territories will in the heart of the mission of AgroParisTech.

AgroParisTech is a higher education and research institute (“Grande Ecole”) aiming at addressing some of the main global challenges of the 21st century : feeding a growing population while sustainably managing territories, preserving natural resources, supporting innovation and integrating the bioeconomy.

While doing so, it addresses the following fields : agronomic sciences and technologies, forestry, life sciences, food technology, biotechnologies, environment, health, management of natural resources, territories development.

The higher education system in France includes universities and other institutions called the “Grandes Ecoles”.

The “Grandes Ecoles” are the most prestigious institutions for higher education in Engineering and Management. The vast majority of the chief executives in major French companies and of top managers in the French Administration are graduates from the “Grandes Ecoles”.

In conformity with its international strategy adopted in March 2015, AgroParisTech aims at encouraging participation of its lecturer-researchers to the European Research Area and the European Higher Education Area and subsequently at developing their involvement in European projects.

AgroParisTech is engaged in numerous EU programmes (Erasmus+, Horizon 2020, Climate KIC, LIFE, etc) as well as transnational projects such as ERA-Net.
