The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning oversees campus-wide assessment efforts, strategic planning, and accreditation processes. Working collaboratively with faculty and staff, the office uses the information and data gathered through these processes to inform institutional decision making, program development, and quality improvement initiatives.
The Missouri Valley College Viking Learning Academy provides service-learning, experiential learning, practicum, and internship opportunities for multiple academic fields, while also providing quality child care to the Missouri Valley College and Marshall communities.

With more than 37% of our students among the first generation in their families to attend college, we understand that paying for college can seem daunting for everyone involved. That is why approximately 98% of our students receive some form of tuition assistance, through grants, scholarships, and federal and state aid.
Here at Valley, we understand that learning occurs just as much outside of the classroom as it does inside the classroom.
With offerings like a nursing simulation lab, on-campus television and radio studios, and the Viking Learning Academy, there are numerous opportunities to experience hands-on learning right here. You can also participate in the annual biology trip to Belize, obtain an internship, or study abroad if you are interested in hands-on learning opportunities away from campus.
Valley students have gone abroad to China, London, Northern Ireland, Russia, Spain, and more! No matter where they go, they come back to Valley with a new perspective of the world and themselves. Twice a year, many of our students participate in the Student Research Symposium with submissions of original research, reviews, scholarly essays, creative writing, performance, film, and original artwork. Our students may submit a proposal for one presentation, performance, or poster to showcase during the symposium. During the symposium, outstanding student work is recognized with three awards for excellence in undergraduate student research.
The annual Institute features guest speakers and entrepreneurs from the United States and Europe, representing various industries. The Maastricht Institute is named after Maastricht, Netherlands, and is an outgrowth of experiences and friendships among residents of Maastricht and several cities in the United States.
The goal of the Maastricht Institute is to foster an atmosphere of receptiveness and creativity toward comparative entrepreneurial processes. The Institute compares and contrasts the United States' entrepreneurial business environment with that of the other countries highlighting domestic and international philosophies.

Our College of Engineering and Computing features 18 engineering and computing undergraduate degree programs. At the same time, our College of Arts, Sciences, and Business offers a vibrant mix of liberal arts and humanities, biological and physical sciences, education, business, behavioral sciences, and military science disciplines.

If you are looking for an excellent education in engineering or computing, the College of Engineering and Computing offers a broad range of options. Choose from 18 undergraduate degree programs, 16 of which are ABET-accredited, or from 19 Master's degree and Ph.D. programs, 17 of which have an online presence. We have got you covered - with the only program of its kind in the country. How about a dual degree in computer science and computer engineering? We have got you there, too - with the oldest and most accomplished computer science program in the state.
According to U.S. News & World Report, computer science and engineering grads have some of the highest starting salaries in the country. You will have a world of career options to choose from - from working to bring safe drinking water to developing countries as a geological engineer, to protecting our country from cyber attacks as a data security analyst.
Interested in getting to know your professors and working side-by-side with them? With a student-to-faculty ratio of 18:1 and an average lab size of 17 students, you can feel comfortable knowing that your professor will be there to answer questions and give advice.
You will discover lecture halls and laboratories equipped with modern technology to help you feel comfortable and ready to learn. These include "clicker" classrooms, where students are given a personal remote and asked to answer questions on the fly, to virtual classrooms, where professors use a green screen to interact with students.
Our online and distance graduate degrees and certificate programs are nationally ranked and offer coursework taught by world-renowned faculty. After you finish a graduate certificate program, the process is streamlined to provide entry into a corresponding graduate degree program.

Regardless of your major, you can expect to do significant research. Our Opportunities for Undergraduate Research Experience program gives you the chance to work alongside your favorite professor on a meaningful research project. Recent examples include research on how trees can remove pollutants from the ground (phytoremediation), how nanoparticles could more efficiently deliver medicine through the body, and how smartphones could be used to improve emergency response systems.
Whether competing with race cars or rockets, concrete canoes, or robots, as a member of one of these student-led teams, you will learn the organizational problem-solving process essential for the successful development of a market-ready product.
