When the Brothers of the Christian Schools founded La Salle College in 1863, they looked to their founder and the universal patron saint of educators, for inspiration and guidance. Beginning with this act of faith, La Salle became the first institution of higher education in the world to bear the name of St. John Baptist de La Salle. Even as La Salle has grown into a university to meet our students' changing needs and our times, our Lasallian Catholic heritage remains a constant, nurturing our institution into a community rooted in the Catholic intellectual and social teaching traditions. These traditions inspire us to integrate scholarship from across the various academic fields to understand the world around us in ways that bring people closer to the transcendent relationship.
Today, La Salle University remains committed to the values of the Gospel and the founding story and vision of St. La Salle. Those values remain integral to understanding our Catholic identity and inform us how we continue our Lasallian educational mission.

Throughout our 154 years, our Lasallian values, Catholic mission, quality education, and student-centered experience have never changed and will never change. Yet what employers seek in graduates has changed dramatically, and so has the cost of a college degree. As a result, families and students seek education with more excellent identifiable value. They understandably emphasize job placement and career outcomes as they prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace and jobs that do not yet exist.
La Salle has taken bold steps to support them. In fall 2017, our tuition was reset to 2008 levels to make a La Salle education—one already recognized nationally for its value—more affordable. And in fall 2018, incoming students will experience a re-envisioned core curriculum and master 12 institutional learning outcomes that exceed what the accreditation agencies require. We are confident this potent combination will produce creative, agile, resilient, and ethically-centered graduates. Graduates who are uniquely prepared to excel and change the world for the better of all—no matter what the day may bring, or where the adventure leads them.
The La Salle education you will receive outside the classroom is just as important as the education you will receive. Some of the most impactful lessons you will learn will happen among friends, at unplanned hours, in places you least expect. With more than 120 clubs and organizations, there is an experience for everyone. You will find groups centered on common interests or lifestyles, academics, Greek life, and sports, as well as community service. Discover where your passions lie and make your time at La Salle more fun, more meaningful, more insightful, and just plain more. If a club or activity you are seeking does not exist, create it. After all, part of exploration is invention.
