On July 1, 2018, Johnson State College and Lyndon State College will become Northern Vermont University, a two-campus institution of higher education that combines the best of our nationally recognized liberal arts and professional programs. Our goal is to guide curious, motivated, engaged students on their path to success and their place in the world at Northern Vermont University.
As an NVU student, you will enroll at either our Lyndon or Johnson campus, and you will be able to take classes at both on-campus and virtually through our online and telepresence classrooms.
By combining more than 200 years of history in liberal arts and professional learning, NVU offers expanded access to a faculty with a broader and deeper depth of expertise and experience. You will collaborate with and learn from peers and staff on both campuses. And your alumni network will include Lyndon and Johnson graduates all over the world who will help you get your foot in the door to put your degree immediately to work in your profession.

Our Lyndon campus, located in Vermont, in the Northeast Kingdom, offers distinct professional programs based in a liberal arts core, such as Mountain Recreation Management, Atmospheric Sciences, Electronic Journalism Arts, and Exercise Science to prepare you for success.
With breathtaking hilltop campuses, Northern Vermont University gives you access to premier skiing, mountain biking, hiking, cycling, and snowmobiling. If a walk through the woods is more your speed, dirt roads, and a network of trails are out your door. You will be inspired just walking across campus.

As one of the top colleges in Vermont, JSC offers graduate programs in education, counseling, and studio arts as well as professional development options to help you achieve your personal and professional goals. Whether you are looking for career advancement, extra credits, or merely an intellectual challenge, JSC has much to offer. Take a couple of college courses or complete your entire senior year at JSC. Either way, you'll earn valuable college credits without paying a penny for tuition.
The world is ever-more interconnected — economics, Science, the arts, and politics ensure that humans worldwide come in close contact daily. You will spend lots of time examining these global intersections and their implications in your Johnson State classes, but there is no better way to get a big-picture view than by spending some time in another country.
New for fall 2017, Johnson State is now a member of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), which allows you to spend a semester or academic year studying abroad for the cost of JSC tuition, room, and board, plus travel and administrative fees.
Johnson State students can take advantage of short-term travel opportunities offered between semesters or during breaks, often associated with a particular class or major. In recent years, we have had business students travel to Brazil, art students explore the treasures of Greece and Turkey, and service learners help a local community in Nicaragua. More traditional semester or year-long opportunities through non-ISEP programs are available as well. The JSC Advising & Registration Center has helped students find programs in Ireland, Russia, England, France, Costa Rica, Spain, Italy, Jordan, Morocco, New Zealand, Scotland, and Australia.
