Xavier men and women become people of learning and reflection, integrity and achievement, and solidarity between others.
Xavier is a Jesuit Catholic university rooted in the liberal arts tradition. Our mission is to educate each student intellectually, morally, and spiritually. We create learning opportunities through rigorous academic and professional programs integrated with co-curricular engagement. In an inclusive environment of open and free inquiry, we prepare students for a world that is increasingly complex and interdependent. Driven by our commitment to educating the whole person, promoting the common good, and serving others, the Xavier community challenges and supports all our members as we cultivate lives of reflection, compassion, and informed action.
Xavier University, a comprehensive university in the Jesuit tradition, excels at educating students intellectually, morally, and spiritually by challenging them to become men and women of integrity and compassion. We inspire one another to achieve our full potential and to engage in society as competent, thoughtful, and responsible global citizens. We value academic rigor, research, reflection, and the integration of knowledge and action that works toward bettering society.

A college education is the best investment you can make. As a Xavier student, you are not just investing in your four years of education. You are investing in a lifetime of continuous learning. You also become a life-long member of a community of learners, teachers, givers, and supporters. To make this investment possible, Xavier offers many different types of financial assistance, including scholarships, grants, student employment, and loans. Payment plans are also available to help families manage their payments throughout the school year.
All students who apply for admission to Xavier are considered for merit scholarships. However, there are opportunities for additional scholarships available, based on major, involvement in community service, commitment to diversity, artistic talent, and more. In addition to scholarship opportunities at Xavier, many of our students also take advantage of Federal Financial Aid that is available to them. Over 60% of our students are on need-based financial aid.
The federal government offers grants, the State of Ohio, selected other states, and Xavier University. In general, grants are awarded to students based on financial need or a specific talent. Like scholarships, grants are a great way to finance a college education.
The University participates in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program, where borrowers obtain loan funds directly from the U.S. Department of Education.
