EduCativPosted October 6, 2021SharePosted October 6, 2021 Nigel High School is a school with a definite vision and mission of initiative, upliftment, and achievement. We strive for excellence in our academic performance, achievements, behavior, attitudes, and appearances. We are more than just a school – it is a way of life. We are a school that works in partnership with all stakeholders, educators, departmental officials, parents, learners, and communities. The present school was founded on 10 May 1963. The forerunner of Nigel High was the Klip School, so named because it was built on stone, which started around about 1894 when Nigel was a Mining Camp. When Nigel became a Village Council, the first principal, Mr. Diamone was appointed. The Klip School eventually became a Junior High School – Grade 1 to Standard 8. In 1948 the principal was Mr. Kloppers and the Vice-principal was Mr. Malherbe. The Head prefects were Poppie Pretorius and Peter Racine. Under the leadership of a motivated, dedicated, and committed Principal and with the support of a dedicated and like-minded School Management Team, we make a difference in the lives of our learners. At our school, we want to ensure that every learner does well and leaves our school with the necessary knowledge, values, skills, and qualifications that will give them the best chance of success in adult life. Therefore quality teaching and learning is taking place. At Nigel High School we endeavor to ensure that each of our learners achieves his / her academic potential. At Nigel High School we provide a varied Cultural Programme that we believe inspires and enriches our learners. Our program is designed to provide opportunities for learners that will expand their minds, awaken their creativity and hone their speaking and debating skills as they journey toward adulthood. The purpose of an Extramural Programme at a school can never be over-emphasized as a tool for teaching life lessons that will enable learners to achieve success in adulthood.
