King Henry VIII College will be a new school, but one with a history that stretches back nearly 500 years. Christ College, Brecon was famously founded in 1541 by Henry VIII, whose name will grace this new school in Malaysia, which will be the first overseas school established by Christ College. Like its Welsh sibling, King Henry VIII College will be a co-educational boarding and day school, with pupils from 3 to 18 years of age.
Visitors to Christ College in Brecon invariably comment on the special atmosphere there, and the heartfelt warmth of the welcome they receive. This is something that we are determined to re-create in Malaysia: an ethos that is built on the long, proud history of Christ College.
Although King Henry VIII College will be a larger institution than its Welsh twin, we will ensure that the same strength of relationships, characterized by confident mutual respect, tolerance, and encouragement is at the core of the school. Each student's interests, skills, and needs will be recognized and catered for, just as they are at Christ College, Brecon.
There will many chances for reciprocal visits and exchanges between the two schools, as well as shared learning experiences, to the great benefit of both sets of students. Working closely with families, our expert teachers will collaborate to produce young people who are ready to go out into the world, to be kind, thoughtful members of their communities, ready to contribute and to make a difference - wherever that might be.
The school will value individuality, initiative, and leadership, as well as emphasizing the merits of teamwork.
