The Bishop's School for Boys was established in 1936. We pride ourselves on being the oldest school in Jordan holds both a sense of heritage and a constant ongoing process to improve based on the latest methods of education. To date, the school has graduated many students who have become leading members of our community. The Bishop's School Amman was created under the notion of servicing the Jordanian public by contributing to the social and intellectual empowerment of its future generations. Utilizing the most effective educational tools, the school endeavors to raise individuals that make a difference, instilling in them a love for education, development, and effecting change in their respective environments.
The school is a private institution that is under the umbrella of the Ministry of Education. It is currently teaching both national and international curriculums, such as the IGCSE, GCE A-level, and is in the process of receiving authorization from the International Baccalaureate, as well as considering becoming part of IBCC. Along with academics, the school offers many extracurricular activities such as sports, music, art, and many other clubs. These activities are designed to contribute to the whole well-being of the student and his motivation for learning beyond the classroom.
The school offers its counseling services to students. This service covers the psychological and social aspects of counseling in a preventive and therapeutic manner. The Counseling Department offers a comprehensive developmentally appropriate curriculum that covers the whole school. In addition, counseling services are offered through working with students individually and/or in groups. Special workshops are also organized to tackle issues that are deemed essential for different age groups. The Counseling Department at school aims to develop healthy, well-rounded characters and enable students to reach the potential abilities that enable them to achieve their goals.
It also aims to instill the ability to cope with change on the part of the students while remaining true to themselves at all levels. We believe that there are no limits to the human spirit, and the heights to which it can soar and the infinite possibilities it creates from such a notion springs our learning environment a supportive, safe, and inclusive environment that inspires us to achieve excellence. Furthermore, the Department conducts Time Management and Study Skills sessions for students as well as PET (Parents Effectiveness Training Programme) course for parents.
The Bishop’s School for Boys’ vision stems from the belief in being rational and ethical on the one hand and being schools of soul and spirit on the other, in a constant state of equilibrium from which wisdom will surely follow. We are alive being, continuously in a process of growth. In touch with the variety of rapid changes taking place in the 21st century, we aspire to be pioneers in walking ourselves uniquely through it, with the 22nd century at the tip of our fingers. Today as we open the doors of our learning organization to communicate with a larger learning community, we embrace a dynamic process and commitment to celebrating diversity and promoting global harmony to facilitate an intercultural and international understanding that will place us at the heart of the world.
We at the Bishop’s School for Boys strive to provide our students with a quality education that helps them grow into empowered human beings who work on realizing their potential through being active lifelong learners reflective and critical thinkers who maintain a high degree of emotional intelligence and adopt a strong humane set of values knowledge creators initiators of change responsible and productive citizens, aware of their cultural heritage, and open to diversity.
