The 180 Year 7 pupils and their families who are now part of the Plasma community and welcome back to our of Year 12 students who have chosen to pursue their post 16 education at Plasma. It is a pleasure to report to you that the school’s summer exam results at both A-Level and GCSE were excellent and amongst the best in the school’s history and a reflection of the huge effort and commitment shown by the pupils over the past few years ably supported by both staff and parents.
The majority of our A-Level students have been accepted to the Universities of their choice, the majority of which are Russell Group Universities. We wish them well as they embark on a new and exciting chapter in their lives. Congratulations to our Year 11 pupils who have attained an outstanding set of GCSE results. The school’s performance ranks the school 5th in Cardiff. A full report on our external exam performance is available on the school website.
We would like to remind you of the importance of the ‘Edulink1’ app as a means of accessing important information about your child’s education and progress. It allows staff, pupils, and parents greater access to information about pupil progress through the use of the internet and wireless devices. If you are having difficulties accessing the site, please contact the support school. We would also kindly ask you to monitor your child’s handbook and to sign it every week. We would also like to inform you of a few initiatives which involve parental participation. One of the key features of the school is the huge amount of support we receive from parents in a myriad of different ways which assist us in our work.
The unique support we experience from parents assists us in creating a community focussed school which is firmly built on a positive parent–school relationship. We are eager for this relationship to continue and am looking for a new wave of parental volunteers. We are firm of the opinion that a successful school is built on an open and healthy relationship between staff, pupils and parents, and I’d be delighted if we could count on your support. We trust that we will have your support as we establish our high pupil expectations at the beginning of a new academic year about speaking Welsh, good behavior, the use of mobile phones, uniforms, make-up, and jewelry.
Brief guidance to our Respect Policy can be found on the school website. We would appreciate it if you could discuss the school rules with your child. We have organized an additional parents' evening this year to highlight the important role of the Personal Tutor in monitoring the wellbeing of your child in school. Based on an appointment system you will be offered a 5 – 10 minute time slot to speak to your child’s Tutor about any school-related matter or concern. This additional parents' evening for Years 7 – 11 has been arranged for Thursday, October 25th.
