At West Acton Primary School our core values are for our children to be: Happy Kind Confident Respect Independent Ambitious Reflective Collaborative Inquisitive Safe Our Vision Statement is as follows: To provide a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment where children can explore their interests and develop skills that enable them to achieve personal success and become confident, happy, lifelong learners who make a difference within the school and beyond. We aim to achieve this by: Have limitless aspirations for every child Recognize and harness the strengths, interests, creativity, and talents of each child Provide a warm, welcoming, and positive ethos based on equality, fairness, and mutual respect where each child’s achievements are valued by all Provide a stimulating and challenging curriculum that reflects our community and meets the needs of every child Teach children to take responsibility for their actions and to have respect for democracy and the democratic process Work with parents, families, and the local community to ignite children’s curiosity and foster a love of learning Provide a wide range of enrichment opportunities within and outside of school to develop every child holistically Teach children to believe in their abilities and to challenge themselves through taking risks and making mistakes Celebrate and embrace each other’s differences in an environment of mutual respect and tolerance Develop each child’s initiative, independence, and sense of personal responsibility towards the people around them and their environment Foster a sense of belonging to the school and wider community Impart high moral values including tolerance of all religions, races, and ways of life as well as fostering international links Promote life-long learning through the provision of high quality continual professional development for all staff and by developing a learning culture throughout the school At West Acton Primary school we have a strong set of whole school values that we teach and model explicitly to our children. We believe that the fundamental British Values form part of our school values and are taught through the broad and balanced curriculum we provide to all our children. The National Curriculum covers KS1 and KS2 and builds on the work of the Foundation Stage Framework. There are 10 subjects in the national curriculum, English, Maths, and Science are core subjects. ICT is used to support all areas of the curriculum. History, Geography, Design Technology, Art, Music, and P.E (Physical Education) are the foundation subjects. R.E (Religious Education) covers the study of the world's major religions. Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) and Citizenship are also included. French is taught from Reception onwards.
