In 2004 we became an independent school and continued the Montessori education of children up to the age of 11. We have a school full of like-minded parents who are looking for a different education that puts children at its heart. Our curriculum is broad and exciting and our teachers have excellent experience in their subject areas and are passionate about what they do. That passion infuses their teaching and so the children are learning from people who care about education and believe in the Montessori method.
No two days are ever the same at WMS, in the past term alone we have had a Chinese food demonstration, painted pictures in the style of Picasso, made totem poles from clay, celebrated Eid, learned about the slave trade for Black History Month, visited the local park to collect Autumn leaves, visited Fenton House to look at the history of keyboard instruments, listened to and created our rap music, collected food for a local children’s home and watched a spider spinning its web.
Our children thrive in a nurturing and safe environment where small class sizes ensure that every child is a special person and allowed to develop at his or her own pace with the right level of encouragement and challenge. Children can start with us from the age of 2 years. Others start at 3 or 5 and occasional places do arise at other times so please do enquire. For parents and other interested people, we offer Montessori training to those who wish to learn more for themselves and can provide pediatric first aid training and safeguarding training.
A school is a busy place but we pride ourselves in building strong relationships with all of the families that come to us and love sharing with you what we do. We are delighted that you are considering our school for your child’s education. We never forget that you are your child’s first educator and that you have a choice about where to send your child for their continued education.
