Trinity Primary School is a vibrant, positive school. We pride ourselves on our excellent ethos which is essential in providing high-quality teaching and learning experiences to all our pupils. Trinity Primary School is at the heart of the local community and we all work together to ensure that everyone feels valued, respected, and happy.
Trinity Primary School is situated on Newhaven Road. It is non–denominational, co-educational, and is part of a cluster of primary schools also including Wardie Primary School and Victoria Primary School. Our catchment secondary school is Trinity Academy, with whom we have close links.
The current school building was opened in 1968. We currently have 18 classes. Trinity has a science classroom with cooking facilities and a multipurpose teaching area. Our recently expanded dining room hosts both the breakfast club and after-school club. Our main hall is used for PE by our classes with their teacher and also with our visiting specialists. The main hall also has fantastic theatrical lighting and audio system which are used to enhance learning and teaching. School shows and whole school events are an integral part of Trinity Primary.
We are lucky to have fairly extensive school grounds with both grass and tarmac areas, a quiet friendship garden, a storytelling space, a fenced sports area, a covered shelter area, and an internal school courtyard garden. There are also P7 mosaic stepping stones, a storytelling throne, a wooden bridge, a wooden fort to play in, designed and built by our talented janitor, Mr. Campbell. We have an amazing Secret Garden which is used as an outdoor classroom and which has 33 wooden seats (thanks again, Mr. Campbell for making them).
We have exciting new developments happening this year with our school grounds. Our incredible PSA has fundraised £20,000 and this has now been doubled with another £20,000 from Matched Funding. You will be seeing developments to the front and back of our grounds. More recently, steps have been taken to start the process of re-developing the courtyard to create a multifunctional area, primarily for Early Years pupils.
At Trinity Primary School we also understand that pupils are reassured if they have a good network of friends and people to support them and know some of what to expect so that they can adapt to the challenges of a new environment. Trinity Primary does not have its nursery. There are over 25 feeder nurseries across the city that our pupils come from. Trinity’s intake into P1 is usually around 80 pupils. The school offers a smooth, supportive, and structured transition from nursery to P1.
In the term before starting school, your child will be invited into school for a tour by older pupils. They will also be visited in their nursery by a member of Trinity Primary School’s senior leadership team. The senior leadership team member will enjoy taking time to speak to your child and meeting the staff who have been involved in their nursery education.
At Trinity Primary School we recognize that pupils need to feel ‘at at home’ and secure when starting with us in August. Following the parent's and carers’ evening meeting, the soon-to-be P1s are invited to meet their teacher and classmates. This is an exciting time for children and staff alike and it helps children to settle in when they first start at Trinity Primary School.
We aim to ensure that our pupils become familiar with our local secondary school throughout their time at Trinity Primary School, through numerous opportunities.
