The world is changing faster than the education system can respond. That is why we need new schools like The Studio.
Every organization that connects with clients, customers, or citizens is thinking about how they can use digital technology to support their activities. Manufacturing and engineering firms are increasingly using the computer and digital technology to produce better products more efficiently. The Studio will help you prepare for this changing world by giving you new skills and attitudes that are highly valued in these workplaces – collaboration, enterprise, creativity, and commercial awareness.
The Studio feels and operates differently from a conventional school. There will be a longer school day and closer relationships with this sector and the community. You will develop expertise and broaden your horizons by working with industry partners.
You will be given responsibility for your learning and progress and the support you need to make the very best of the opportunities this new industry offers. At The Studio, you won’t learn how to react to a changing world you will create a changing world, for the better.
Our school educates young people for success in a digital world and, in particular, for employment, entrepreneurship, a new business venture, or further study in the digital media sector.
Some students apply their skills directly in the gaming, animation, digital marketing, and computer technology sectors, others will work for businesses and other organizations that use digital media to develop products and services and connect with clients, consumers, patients, and citizens.
Our students are creators, rather than consumers, of technology and this empowers them to generate opportunities for themselves within this emerging sector. They are the future digital leaders who will use their expertise to improve the lives of others through the application of digital technology.
Our Industry partners have worked to define exactly what attributes, skills, and experiences are required of their future workforce. The Studio offers a curriculum and ethos where students can develop the required additional skills to fill these requirements.
We have established three pathways – Coding, Creative, and Entrepreneurship. The pathways reflect the three skills areas in the sector. Students work in project teams to ensure that they have a broad-based of knowledge and experiences.
Students at The Studio are not limiting their options by choosing a specialist pathway. Students will complete traditional A-Level and BTEC qualifications. We simply add more and more skills and experiences that will secure their future career.
Creative and Digital skills and experiences gained at The Studio will be a passport into careers in many different industries including marketing, education, and science. Plus, the core skills and culture inherent to this sector will ensure that students have strong communication, management, entrepreneurial, scientific, analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, all highly sought by employers and incredibly transferable.
Studio Schools are a new type of state school for 14 to 19-year-olds of all abilities. They seek to close the gap between what young people need to succeed in life and the skills and knowledge that the current education system provides.
A day at The Studio is purposefully longer than an average school day but includes time for enrichment activities and homework so there is still time for family life. Our school is an encouraging environment where students can develop the necessary qualities to prepare themselves to become the digital entrepreneurs of the future.
