Welcome to St Saviour's & St Olave's School. We are a fully inclusive and very successful inner-city Church of England school for girls. We give you a flavor of the amazing range of opportunities available here to our students, as well as a sense of our proud history and exciting future.
With roots that can be traced back to 1562 and only five headteachers in the last 110 years, we provide an educational environment of stability and tradition that enables our whole community to learn from the very best of our shared heritage.
We have fabulous new facilities with a new building completed in January 2013 providing state-of-the-art ICT, drama, science, and sixth form spaces that enable us to provide the very best education for our 21st-century students.
Our students consistently achieve outstanding results, and many have gone on to study at the most prestigious universities in the UK, including Natural Sciences at Cambridge, PPE at Oxford, Physics at Manchester, and Art at Central St Martins. Last year, four of our sixth-formers went on to study medicine – unmatched in South London.
We are proud of this great academic success but that is far from the whole story of SSSO. We are a community with shared values rooted in our faith, and we work closely with a range of partners as well as parents to ensure our students have opportunities to grow into confident, caring, and successful young women. They learn to value themselves and others, to become participants in a greater community. St Saviour’s girls are generous with their time and energy, supporting their peers as mentors, school councilors, and house captains, and they raise thousands of pounds each year for charities in the local and international community.
Our students’ success in every aspect of their development is supported and encouraged by a dedicated and highly skilled staff, who give freely of their time and energy to ensure every St Saviour’s girl has the opportunity to excel. Through the formal curriculum and in the vast range of extra-curricular provisions, we believe every girl will find something to challenge and inspire her.

Significant changes are being made to the curriculum of all departments across all key stages. As a result of this, we are updating information for departments regularly.

St Saviour’s & St Olave’s Sixth Form will provide you with the essential academic successes and the opportunity to develop as an individual so that you leave us happy, confident, and well equipped for the challenges in the next phase of your life, whether employment or university.
As a core subject, we believe fundamental to English, at St. Saviour’s and St.Olave’s is the exploration of communication. The essential aim of our teaching is to provide the women of the future with exceptional skills in speaking, reading, and writing.
Through exploring the breadth and depth of our Literary Heritage, our students dive into different periods and different cultures. Injustices and prejudices of the past are exposed and explored from a modern-day perspective, developing social conscience and empathy whilst doing so.
St Saviour’s & St Olave’s School has a rich tradition of music-making. In recent years the reputation of our students has allowed them the privilege of performing to numerous heads of state, key members of Parliament and peers, as well as a variety of famous sporting and popular stars. St. Saviour’s & St. Olave’s School was founded as a grammar school for girls in 1903. The school first opened on the 26th January 1903 with eighty-four girls on the premises of St. John’s Elementary School. The building was completed and opened by their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales (afterward King George V and Queen Mary) on 14th March, a date kept as the School Birthday and marked each year by a Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Southwark Cathedral. St. Saviour’s & St Olave’s is a Voluntary Aided School. The Governors own the buildings and are responsible for their general repair and maintenance.
