St Paul’s School is a Voluntary Aided Church of England School in the Diocese of London. The school is situated off Friern Barnet Road and is easily accessible both on foot and by public transport. The school is housed in a combination of old and modern buildings. It offers good facilities for all its pupils including well-equipped classrooms, a library, ICT suite, and environmental gardens.
The school also has a self-contained Nursery School on the site. Children are generally admitted to the Nursery unit in the term after their third birthday. Places are part-time with children attending either in the morning or the afternoon, with one extended day available.
Our aim is for our pupils learning experiences to always be fun, challenging, and positive as well as being enriched by the many trips and visits that we can provide. There is a commitment to the pursuit of excellence at all levels within our school. Our school is a happy place, where every member of staff does their best for our children. We retain good staff for longer than is typical of most London schools. This level of staff stability supports the very positive relationships that exist within and between the whole school community. Staff stability also supports children’s personal development and well-being. Everyone feels more secure if they have been able to develop and cement firm relationships.
Through newsletters, open days, and other curriculum events, as well as our website, we will keep you regularly updated about all of our school developments. We understand what you and your child go through when first starting at primary school or moving from one school to another. We firmly believe that we can successfully provide what the vast majority of parents are looking for within a primary school first and foremost, that children are happy. When children are happy and settled, they go on to flourish, progress and develop into confident, well-rounded, respectful, and independent learners.
Each year the school admits thirty pupils to the Reception class. This is the school’s standard number. Children are admitted to the Reception class in September before their fifth birthday. Each class is of mixed ability and under the care of a member of staff who has responsibility for the general curriculum throughout that academic year. Specialist teachers take individual pupils for instrumental music lessons. Children with special educational needs may receive extra help from our support staff. Our Gifted & Talented Pupils policy seeks to address the needs of the more able pupils. In addition to the Headteacher, there are nine full-time teachers or equivalent, teaching assistants who support each class, office staff, caretaker, meal-time supervisors, and kitchen staff.
