Severn Primary School is an English medium, community co-educational school situated in the Canton area of Cardiff. At Severn, we place great value on the importance of good home/school links as we believe that it is through a close partnership that children learn and flourish. We offer a happy and caring environment where your child can learn within a beautiful Victorian building. The education we provide is carefully matched to the learning needs of individual children. We strive to develop the child’s self-esteem and sense of well-being so that they are ready, willing, and able to learn. As children progress through school they will be offered the opportunity to participate in many extra-curricular activities.

The school aims:-

• To provide a happy, caring, secure and enriched learning environment for all children.
• To develop the "whole child" to his/her full potential irrespective of gender, age, or background.
• To encourage the children, their families, and the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school to have high expectations of what can be achieved.
• To draw upon the experiences relating to race, religion, and culture to develop in the children a sense of who they are and where they come from.
• To foster an appreciation of Wales and things Welsh through the implementation of Curriculum Cymreig.
• To provide and deliver a curriculum that is broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated.
• To value the importance of caring for the environment and acquiring a healthy lifestyle.
• To raise awareness of the school in the community by fostering links with parents, extended families, residents, and businesses.
• To engender good relationships, based on mutual respect amongst the children and staff:
• We view pupils, parents, governors, and the larger community as an integral part of our school team. We work together to achieve our mission statement-“Together we learn, together we grow.” We want parents to take an active role in their child's education and to feel welcome to come in and participate in the life of our school. Following an amalgamation in September 2008, extensive building work was carried out at the school and we now have fantastic resources and facilities including a computer suite, outdoor classrooms, art room, libraries, food technology room, large halls, and dining area. The staff gives freely of their own time to provide a wide range of out-of-hours activities that enhance the children’s academic, creative and physical development.
