Sebright is a warm welcoming school. We work together to prepare children for a successful future in the real world. We treat our children as whole people, developing their social, emotional, and physical skills, as well as focusing on their academic progress.
Please contact us to make an appointment. An available member of the Senior Leadership Team will take you on a tour of the school and answer any questions. Once children have been offered a place at Sebright, the parent/carer will be invited in to complete the necessary admissions paperwork. Documentary evidence such as the child’s Birth Certificate and proof of their current address will be photocopied and kept on file.
We are a busy and friendly school, with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up-to-date information for parents, pupils, and the wider community. KS1 and KS2 Curriculum at Sebright Primary school we aim for our children to develop inquisitive minds, a spirit of curiosity, and a passion for life-long learning. Our Golden expectations encourage children to be creative and to initiate and direct their learning as well as that of others.
Our daily timetable supports a broad and balanced curriculum focusing on the core subjects in the morning and a wider themed cross-curricular approach in the afternoon. In line with these goals, all of our teachers and support staff are committed to promoting our children’s self-belief as well as providing opportunities to reflect on their learning, and seek to extend themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually.
As a school we are committed to educating all our children to equip them with the skills and confidence to fully achieve in an ever-changing world, therefore, our curriculum leaders, alongside the experienced management team, have worked to develop a flexible tailor-made Sebright Primary School curriculum that is encompassing the goals of the new national curriculum and does include wide-ranging opportunities to explore the arts and humanities, Science, ICT as well as sport, drama, music, and dance.
The Sebright curriculum stimulates enjoyment of, and commitment to, learning as a means of encouraging the best possible progress and the highest attainment for all our pupils. It provides skills of literacy, numeracy, science, creativity, and communication. It also, assists our children to develop enquiring minds and the ability to think rationally. This prepares them effectively for the next stage in their education. Our children are expected to make expected standards of progress between KS1 and KS2. Their attainment, effort, progress, and behavior are tracked and their educational experience is personalized to suit their individual needs.
At Sebright, we are passionate about and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and visitors to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children, and staff at school. We have robust policies in place for ensuring the well-being of our children. These policies underpin our practice and values shared by every single member of staff in our school. Please see below. Any concerns about children are passed through the members of staff who are trained as part of the “Designated Safeguarding Team” in compliance with the “sharing of information” guidance.
Mental health problems affect about 1 in 10 children and young people. this includes depression, anxiety, and conduct disorder, and are often a direct response to what is happening in their lives.70% of children and young people who experience a mental health problem have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age.
Sebright Children Centre is a purpose-built Centre based in Haggerston Park, for the use and enjoyment of families who have children under 5 living in Hackney - all services are free Centre is split into 2 floors. The downstairs part of the Centre has a variety of daily activities such as music, baby massage, parents drop-ins, messy play, and a whole host of other activities for the family. The upstairs part of the Centre is a daycare nursery.
