We want the best for each & every pupil. We want them to celebrate academic success and feel confident and ready to start secondary school by the end of their Ringway journey. We want to prepare them for a bright future. Indeed we run Enterprise Days and World of Work Days each summer term. Our talented team of staff encourages each child to be aspirational and to persevere to overcome any challenges.
We pride ourselves on the school’s family atmosphere & caring approach. Visitors often comment on the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the children’s good behavior & friendliness. Ringway has a high level of parental support and we work as a team with our parents, governors, and pupils who all strive to give our pupils the best possible start in life.
Children from year 6 were lucky enough to take part in Pupil Parliament Day in January 2018. Together, with several other schools around Manchester and Sale East, they celebrated their community and the journey our country has taken to enable us the right to vote. The children worked together, discussing issues such as democracy, what peace is and how we can all work together.
Ringway Primary School is working towards an extremely important award called the Rights Respecting School Award. The children are learning many of their rights through their involvement with UNICEF and a Rights Respecting ethos throughout the whole school. They are also learning about the global issues which affect so many people through the help of their Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural Development.
We want children at Ringway to learn about their rights and feel empowered about their education. We recognize that rights and responsibilities are equally balanced and encourage our children to take responsibility for their actions to develop an awareness of how they might affect the rights of others. The aim is to help children achieve their potential and become responsible citizens.
Children need to keep safe and healthy in school. As part of our continual commitment to the community, Ringway Primary school ran a Nutrition & Healthy Eating program for parents with children enrolled in our school. The course, run in association with Manchester City’s ‘Lifestyle’ department, took place over six weeks in the first part of the summer term.
E-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Ringway Primary School. We have extensive security measures in place within the school, which are reviewed regularly, to help safeguard the children from unsuitable content of the internet and any potential dangers. As a school, we are working towards achieving e-safety recognition from 360 degrees safe. This involves documenting and improving our already above-standard e-safety practices.
We have recently set up an E-Safety Group consisting of staff, pupils, parents, governors, and technicians. We meet each half term. Minutes of the E-safety Group Meetings. Children at Ringway Primary School use the internet as part of their learning and we have regular activities and conversations to remind the children about the importance of staying safe on the internet both in school and out of school. We must work with parents/carers to ensure the safety of the children whilst using the internet. It is important parents/carers speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.
At Ringway Primary School we believe that assessment is an integral part of teaching and lies at the heart of promoting children’s learning so they can reach their full potential.
Ringway Primary School is a school where there is a highly positive atmosphere. Where we focus on the positives and catch children being good & reward them. We are proud to have previously gained the Gold Inclusion Standard and have a history of turning challenging behaviors into positive behavior. The key to this policy is to maintain this ethos & high standard. We will do this by encouraging a positive attitude towards & from all members of the school community.
Class teachers have day-to-day responsibility for the discipline of the children in their classes. A positive caring environment with high expectations can promote and ensure good behavior. Any behavior which is causing concern should be noted in the teacher’s Behaviour log on CPOMS. Pupils with SEBD must be kept up to date. These children should have behavioral targets as part of their profiles.
We aim to provide an early years curriculum that will enable each child to develop emotionally, socially, physically, creatively, and intellectually to their full potential and at their own pace. Each child is unique and is valued as an individual. In the Foundation Stage, children learn best through play-based activities and firsthand experience. Every child deserves the best possible start in life and their wellbeing is paramount. Children become independent learners through the provision of a balance of child-initiated and adult-led experiences. The environment plays a strong role as the third teacher and all adults are aware of their roles as facilitators of learning as well as supporters of learning whilst playing with and alongside children. It is important to us that we don’t view ourselves in isolation and that best practice involves working with families, the community, and other professional agencies in the best interests of the child. Effective transitions help to ensure continuous progression.
