We encourage parents to be involved in their child's learning both at home and in school. If you have a spare hour or two to assist the staff, you would be most welcome. At Rhiwbeina we provide a caring, secure challenge, and enjoyable learning environment to which children, staff, parents, and Governors are proud to belong. We celebrate pupil's achievements and successes and aim to prepare our pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of a fast-changing world. We believe that children learn best when they are excited by, actively involved in, and have a clear purpose for their learning. Our wider curriculum seeks to help children to develop skills for learning and skills for life, through creative context-based topics, high-quality teaching in the core areas including literacy and mathematics, and a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities.

The school is very well resourced to promote pupil’s learning. The staff aspires to present clear, consistent guidelines for behavior by school rules. Children will be encouraged to show consideration and respect for others and their property. A positive attitude is fostered towards differences of gender, race, disability, and special needs following our policy on Equal Opportunities. Children are encouraged to develop self-discipline, a sense of pride in themselves and their school, and recognize that their school is part of a wider community.
We aim to provide a quality education that sets high standards and recognizes the individual child’s needs. Children should feel confident within themselves as well as autonomous in their work so that they can take an active role in their learning. We have high expectations of the children’s achievement and encourage them to hold these same expectations of themselves in learning and also in their personal and social development. We provide a wide but structured curriculum that gives progression, continuity, and also flexibility.
We aim to link learning with real life, so that the children have relevant first-hand experiences, are engaged in many practical tasks, are involved in the investigation and problem-solving activities, and are given opportunities for creativity and reflection. Staff will provide positive role models in terms of how we value good manners and behavior and the development of social skills and consideration for others. We aim for a consistent, caring, and organized environment where self-discipline and consideration for others are valued We acknowledge the valuable support that parents give regarding the ethos of the school and recognize that a partnership with parents is paramount to ensure the continuing development of the child.
