Regius School

Regius School began in 1986 in Newington, Edinburgh as a Primary School located in a church building. It relocated in 2007 to our current location in Newcraighall. Further developments occurred in 2014 when a classroom area was added to accommodate into High School.

Regius School is conveniently situated on the south-eastern outskirts of Edinburgh. There is easy access to the A1 and the City Bypass, which connect to the M8 and M9 Motorway networks. A Park-and-Ride service is located close to the school, from which a half-hourly train service operates into the city and newly opened Borders Railway. A regular bus service runs from outside the school. The ‘Innocent’ cycle path runs from Regius to the heart of Edinburgh.

Regius is an independent Christian School, providing a happy, caring and creative environment for all children, aged five to fourteen years. We aim to be a center of educational excellence where each child’s unique ability is recognized and developed, focusing on their learning skills and aspirations.

In Regius, we provide an encouraging and creative environment in which children can reach their full potential and gain confidence. Our small class groups facilitate a safe, caring, family atmosphere.

Our curriculum policies and procedures have been developed from discussions about how to achieve our school vision that ‘each child will see themselves as God the Father sees them’ and for our children to dream big dreams and be the very best they can be!

Whilst providing the children with a strong academic foundation, at the heart of all we do is the desire that the children grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We seek to enable the children to develop in the relationship through their growth in understanding the Bible, their expression of worship and hearing God for themselves, engaging in prayer, serving others.

We present a curriculum based on the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and underpinned by our Christian faith. We develop our children in the capacities of successful learners, effective contributors, and responsible citizens, with Christian values based on Biblical principles.

We encourage active learning and independent learning skills so the children explore and discover together and develop their learning strategies and ways to articulate these. We learn in the context of the classroom and the rich countryside environment around us. We respect the freedom of childhood and support the children as they learn and grow in confidence within our family atmosphere.

Our vibrant school enables the children to think creatively across all aspects of the curriculum. The expressive arts play an important role in our school life and enhance children’s learning experiences. Small classes allow the children to grow and develop at a pace appropriate for the individual. We value the role of parents within the life of our school.
