At Our Lady’s we are committed to providing your child with the best education possible. We aim to develop each child’s potential through high-quality teaching and learning throughout the school. Our vision is to ensure all our pupils enjoy their time at Our Lady’s and develop the skills and knowledge required to become confident and enthusiastic learners.

At Our Lady of the Assumption Primary School and Nursery, we have a ‘Values Blueprint.’ Each month we select a value and reflect on what it means for us in our school, in our community, in our country, and the wider world. The values are shared with staff and pupils in our weekly assemblies and class liturgies as well as with other members of the school community through our weekly newsletters.

Our visions and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Aims:

• To provide the foundation for a Catholic way of life, through close liaison with home, parish, and the wider community.
• To provide a Catholic education that is all-embracing and reflects Christian values in our day-to-day lives.
• To encourage the children of Our Lady of the Assumption to live their lives as good Christians, fostering good manners and respect for others and their property.
• To foster self-esteem by recognizing and nurturing the talents and abilities of the whole school “family” and enabling all children to achieve their full potential.

Our school offers a curriculum that is balanced and broadly based and which: Promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental, and physical development of pupils at the school and society, Prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of later life.

Our school follows the 'Letters and Sounds' program to deliver phonics teaching for pupils. Staff also use 'Jolly Phonics' resources to enhance the teaching for phonics.

As a Catholic primary school and Nursery, we teach Religious Education through the 'Come and See' program with support and guidance from the Liverpool Archdiocese Christian Education Dept. RE is taught through a range of topics, each focusing on one of three themes: Christian Living, Church, and Sacraments.

There are 3 stages in the process for delivering the topics in 'Come and See' - Explore, Reveal and Respond which enable pupils to develop knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes.

The needs of individual pupils are met through a range of teaching and learning styles and experiences.

'Come and See' also requires us to teach the children about other faiths and religions these include Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, and Sikhism.
