Oaklands is very much a community school that reflects the local neighborhood and the community of Tower Hamlets, working together in mutual respect and harmony. We are building upon 21 years of success and we believe the best is yet to come.

We are:

• A comprehensive community school of 800 11 – 19 learners, and over 600 16 – 19 learners at Cambridge Heath Sixth Form, a joint Sixth Form with Morpeth and Swanlea Schools.
• A fully inclusive school with a wealth of opportunities for all learners to achieve their full potential.
• A high-performing school that has learning, teaching, and achievement as its central focus. In 2015 GCSE results, 72% of our students A*- C including English and Maths, compared to 53% nationally.
• A school with a strong international dimension and Full International Status.
• A school that serves the local community and promotes co-operation, responsibility, and respect.
• Oaklands has been a specialist Science College since 2003 with many students studying triple science. Results are in the top 5% in the country.
• Oaklands became a Specialist School for Modern Foreign Languages in 2008. We were in the top centile for languages in 2013 and second centile in 2014.
• An extended school that offers out-of-hours learning and enrichment. Oaklands has strong and supportive partnerships which include Clare College Cambridge, Nomura, and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Oaklands School is proud of our learners and they achieve results well above the national average, taking part in a range of extra-curricular activities to develop their sense of self-worth, respect, and confidence. Oaklands is committed to serving the local community and being active citizens to the wider international community.

Oaklands School is committed to providing a secure environment for students, where children feel safe and are kept safe. All adults at Oaklands recognize that safeguarding is everyone’s duty of care to ensure the safeguarding and welfare of students irrespective of the role they undertake.

The school sets high standards of behavior. The ethos of respect and care to individuals and the community is at the core of the policy. Racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of discrimination are not acceptable. Where students infringe these standards, the school will seek to respond in a way that sees the behavior as unacceptable but that still recognizes the needs of the individual that carries it out. Students having difficulty with their behavior will be offered individual support, through a revised timetable, a Pastoral Support Programme, or, where appropriate, an Individual Education Plan designed to meet their needs.

Learning is a key priority at Oaklands School. There is a range of subjects on offer and flexible study pathways. The School Curriculum Policy spans from KS3 to KS5. The curriculum aims to provide a broad and balanced and inclusive curriculum, offering more choice and variety that fully meet statutory obligations and offers appropriate guidance for students and parents on careers and making choices.
