Nancy Reuben Primary School is a high achieving Independent Selective Orthodox Jewish School for boys and girls aged 2-11. The school was rated good overall by Ofsted in October 2017. Our pupils come from Hendon, Golders Green, Finchley, Edgware, St Johns Wood, and across North West London. The school attracts families from both Sefardi and Ashkenazi backgrounds. Uniquely among local Jewish schools, we have a Play Group and Pre-Kindergarten on-site meaning that we cater for children from age 2.
In April 2017, a new Head Teacher Anthony Wolfson joined the school along with a new Head of Kodesh Mr. Jeremy Richards. They were joined in September 2017 by Mrs. Shelley Cohen as Teaching Deputy Head. The new Senior Leadership Team has set out on a journey to make Nancy Reuben Primary a center of academic excellence in Kodesh and secular studies. Supported by a fabulous group of professionals on the teaching and support staff and a new Governing Body this team has made a massive impact. Consequently, NRPS is thriving and going from strength to strength. In October 2017, Ofsted judged the school as a good school and noted the rapid improvements made in a very short period.
Our distinctive character is that we are a community school and a family in every sense of the word. The school is well known for its warmth and our uniqueness as a school lies in the fact that despite the rich Sefardi and Ashkenazi traditions of our pupils, the school has always functioned as a family where everyone feels valued and welcome.
We strive for academic excellence whilst endeavoring to create a caring and nurturing environment that will ensure the spiritual, moral, and academic growth of every child in a Torah framework. At Nancy Reuben, we recognize that the integration of secular studies with Kodesh serves to strengthen both curricula
Our pupils are very important to us and so, as well as prioritizing academic progress in Kodesh and secular, we constantly strive to make sure that pupils develop socially in terms of self-esteem and confidence. We encourage our children to have a go at things and we always look to praise the children whenever possible. We hope that NRPS pupils will become lifelong learners with a true sense of pride in themselves, their achievements and will be proud and responsible citizens in the school and wider community too.
Our pupils' excellent attainment allows them to go successfully onto secondary schools of choice. Our Summer 2017 cohort of Year 6 pupils went on to Hasmonean, Immanuel, JFS, and Haberdashers, and once there, we know NRPS pupils flourish. Pupils who transfer to Hasmonean often make it into the top sets for Kodesh.
Our parent body is a close-knit group of people who go out of their way to welcome new families and children. The PTA at Nancy Reuben runs an amazing array of events throughout the year all of which support projects at the school that enhances provision. The most recent example of this is the new Early Years Foundation Stage Outdoor all-weather classroom which was professionally installed at the end of October 2017.
Our secular and Kodesh Curricula are broad and offer a rich mix of formal and informal learning opportunities throughout the year. To support this, since September 2017, we have offered a great new choice of before and after-school enrichment clubs including Music, Israeli dancing, Football, Art, Choir, Chess, Netball, Multi- Sports and Gymnastics.
