Welcome to London Christian School. We are an independent primary school that exists to provide an excellent Christian education for children in London.

At LCS we believe that pupils flourish in a secure, caring, and fun environment, with clear expectations and firm boundaries. Our class sizes are kept small to allow us to strive for academic excellence while treating pupils as individuals. We encourage pupils to develop their talents and personality and we value diversity in our school community.

London Christian School was established in September 2007 and started with just four pupils. Since then the school has flourished to its current size of 120 pupils across eight classes, aged from 3 to 11 years old.

Our carefully crafted curriculum is built around a traditional Biblical Christian understanding of the world and human nature, and pupils learn in a nurturing environment in which they feel safe and happy.

We have been based in our current purpose-built facility nestled in the Borough vicinity of London Bridge, since 2009. Our central London location provides us with wonderful opportunities to visit places of great historical, cultural, and geographical interest and create a range of learning experiences outside the classroom. The school has a courtyard and a covered rooftop playground as well as easy access to the local park for sports and recreation.

We exist to provide excellent Christian education and we aim to deliver this by:

We believe that education is about so much more than exam preparation. It is about understanding, nurturing, and developing character.

Learning is not simply about adding to the knowledge bank. It is about 'learning how to learn, even for the youngest children.

Pupils are introduced to and taught about the Characteristics of Learning in lessons and assemblies along with their associated age-appropriate questions and catchphrases. Regular discussion and reminders help to embed this knowledge and enable pupils to utilize these skills in school and life beyond LCS.

Our curriculum combines a rigorous academic focus with an engaging, creative approach. We adapt units of work to pupils’ interests and abilities, ensuring that they make great progress.

Literacy and Mathematics form the foundation of our education at LCS. These are taught every day in each year group and skills are developed through formal and informal assessment, interventions, delivering lessons with captivating themes and activities, and integrating subjects such as Science, Geography, and History.

In an ever-changing world of technology, we seek to inform and prepare our children for a lifetime of digital learning by teaching key principles of computing, programming, and internet safety. We integrate technology into many areas of the curriculum using portable Chromebooks, iPads, and floor robots. The older children share what they make and learn via a safe social learning platform.

Alongside our core curriculum, we strive to promote well-roundedness by teaching subjects such as sport and foreign languages (Mandarin Chinese, French, and Latin). Creativity is nurtured through Art and Music, with fundamental techniques and musical theory instilled from a young age. Older children also participate in Politics and Philosophy lessons to encourage interest in contemporary issues and events.

In our early years setting, key areas for growth are Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, Communication, and Language, and Physical Development. They underpin all activities in these classes and are delivered through inspiring themes such as ‘Space’, ‘Transport’ and ‘Under the Sea’.

We seek to enrich the learning experience by providing natural links across subjects. We feel that we are doing a good job when a child remarks in a Mathematics lesson “Ah, that’s like something I learned in Geography”.
