Limespring School is based in lovely new purpose-designed premises next to Cherry Tree woods and park and directly opposite East Finchley underground station in North London: the first school of its type for children in this part of London.
Limespring School creates a school experience that every child enjoys – confident to engage with their learning, to demonstrate their achievements and emerge, feeling a pride in their success. High expectations are the norm for all children and individual talents and aspirations celebrated. Your child will shine.
The school is for children in the junior age group – years 3 to 6, ages 7 to 11. The school provides a personalized approach that supports the development of a child’s learning and social competence in a warm, positive, stress-free environment. This is achieved by maintaining a small school in which everyone is well known and with a maximum class group size of eight, with only four classes. Our focus is on the individual strengths and learning needs of each child.
Limespring School is a small, independent junior school that opened in January 2012 in East Finchley, North London for children with specific learning differences such as Dyslexia & Dyspraxia. We offer an exciting new approach to learning tailored to the needs of your child.
Your child is special, with particular qualities, talents, and interests. Due to puzzling and perplexing differences in the way your child learns – sometimes called dyspraxia, dyslexia, or other terms – your child’s confidence, self-esteem, and learning have started to be affected. Your child’s relationship with their teachers (and school) and their peers may also have begun to change.
Each class has no more than eight children. The teaching is inspiring, supported by specialist teaching, social and therapeutic input. The school team meets with parents and carers regularly to review progress. Children leaving Limespring School will be able to access a suitable school of their choice.
The quality of teaching and pupils’ outcomes require improvement because leaders do not know pupils’ starting points in all subjects, or how much progress pupils have made. Anecdotal information is too heavily relied on. A new system for monitoring progress following more consistent checks on pupils’ starting points is being developed.
For some children, the acquisition of literacy and numeric skills is not straightforward and does not happen in response to typical early years and primary school teaching strategies. There are many reasons for this but often the issues for the child are associated with difficulties in phonological skills, information processing, and organizational skills.
We establishing a positive relationship with parents is integral to the values within Limespring School. As parents of children with learning differences, you may have sometimes experienced strained relationships with the school often borne out of frustration on your, and the school’s, part. Our approach is to place the relationship with the parent as central to the child’s experience at the school.
